Im thinking of shipping a used Ford Mustang over to Ireland after I get it a full service and spare service parts.
I know that VRT will be like 5 grand, but how much will the shipping cost and what companies do this?

Afaik you will have to pay VAT and import duty aswell as VRT. But maybe someone else can verify this.

BTW have you looked at any here, there are a few for sale and considering they are not going to be easy to sell there might be a bargin or two to be had.

This has bee for sale for a long time:

i know the reserve wasnt met on that one but im going on holiday over there in June and the plan will be to get it then and hopefully at a reasonable price around 14-15,000 dollars, a 2003 or 2004 model with a racing stripe under 50,000 is what i want

There was at least one Mustang (and F150 truck(s)) going through Merlin in October/November. F150 was still there in early December, not sure about the Mustang. All being sold by the banks so if still there it might be bought cheaply. These were almost new - 07 or 08. I think they had LH plates but I could be wrong. I'd expect they would work out cheaper than importing your own, but the spec might not be what you would want ?

In terms of taxes, afaik there are three taxes to be paid - VRT, VAT, and 10% (?) CE tax because it's coming from outside the European Union. Anyone who has imported from Japan would have more info.

Duty is charged on (car price + shipping cost + insurance). VAT is then charged on the new amount. Disclaimer: afaik.

    Not your ornery onager

    whats the point ??

mustangs start at 7 and end at 10k ( the good 65-69 models, anything afterwards isnt a Real stang )

should you need parts ebay is your best friend ( trust me, theres do many pt stangs out their, its like owning a honda civc... except your car makes noise and has go... )

servicing ?? do it yourself, not a hard ask, tools can be bought virtually anywhere ( do you can easily improvise)

repair ??: rust is your enemy, its a heavy car so apart from whip lash, a head on head with most cars is not an issue thanks to the silly v8 in the front.

For me it is hard to see the point to spend so much money on Mustang and then buy it with V6 engine, why dont you think V8, it belongs to that kind of car anyway.

I have seen one new shape Mustang in Celbridge and it is really nice looking car:)

I know of at least one more post 2000 Mustang for sale in Ireland. They're pretty much sale proof, so you're better off getting one here, unless you want to contribute probably almost €15k to the exchequer to bring it in and you'll be paying €2,100 a year in tax if you go for a 08.
