Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. hmmpf, looks like they are all closed today

    thanks OP!

Guys, I'd say this offer may be only available in the three stores mentioned by the OP,
Longford, Roscommon & Athlone. Plus, while these are a bargain, I'd be a bit cautious about buying expensive electronics from them, as I suspect it's a "closing down" sale in disguise.
I could be wrong, but the company that runs these stores did get hit with a 551k VAT bill this March :(

However, if this offer is available elsewhere, and I'm Mr.Doom & Gloom, I'll apoligise!

So please, if anyone does find this deal elsewhere, let the rest of us know?

    Lads,

Toymaster website has a functioning store locator which operates for Ireland aswell. For example I have found out there's one in Cobh which I'm probably going to pay a visit to. However, I'm not sure this offer will apply - the Longford and Roscommon stores are not on the store locator - as suggested by others this could be specific to the 3 stores owned by O'Connor (whoever he is) and not applicable in the wider group. If someone finds the offer in another toymaster/toycity please post as I'll definitely take the spin to Cobh if it is.

There's one in Dungarvan, also in Clonmel and Kilkenny.

Mine are not getting another console, they've just gotten an xbox 360 for christmas

    yes it is .

however. toycity is not part of Toymaster, toycity is part of the youngster toygroup aka supertoys part of the world of wonder group.

hope this is of some help.

Toymaster presently have there own sales on in each store much different to the toycity sales as toymaster in there stores dont do much in the line of consoles

A previous poster mentioned that Toycity & Toymaster were the same entity??

    Is Toycity online?
When I google search for it I find boards threads with them mentioned :o

Big signs up for everything half price in Athlone.
    Won't open until 12:10
Notice saying they will NOT accept vouchers in sale "due to recent robbery".
Nearby sales guy said they had limited stock of consoles.

Will be passing through longford tomrorow, where abouts is the store and was there alot of stock op?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,042 ✭✭✭kaizersoze

Mr. O’Connor, an Elphin native, currently owns Toy City stores in Roscommon, Sligo, Galway, Athlone and Longford as well as Eason’s outlets in Roscommon and Longford.

Offers limited to these stores only I'd say.

Update: Made a few phone calls. No consoles left in Athlone, Roscommon or Longford.

Checking later, will let you know. I did hear before christmas that they were going out of business, wonder if this is related?

Plenty of console boxes but no consoles in Athlone. Plenty of differing stories amongst the staff so either pulled back or earmarked for the sharper staff... baxtards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

Roscommon store said they were getting them back in but not for a couple of weeks and im guessing not for that price too.

Probably hide them in the backroom store untill the sale is finished

Staff in that branch told several people, myself included, that there were no consoles available today. And yes, I was in early.

I was in the Longford Branch there now and was told there's no consoles. I was hoping to get a wireless PS3 controller but none of those either I'm afraid. Plenty of PS2 accessories! Relatively poor selection of games, although there are one or two gud uns. Little Big Planet was in there for €35. Plenty of toys, trampolines, football goals, basketball hoops etc so if there was a birthday coming up it'd be excellent.

this psp was probably 1 that was held for some1 since yesterday that was never collected it and probably the same for the xbox arcade i seen

I was in longford yesterday evening and they had loads of the "compatable" ps3 contollers left, not the official ones but they would do the same job!

Girlfriend used to work for the one in limerick before a number of them closed down. Only one left in this region is the one in ennis... never been to it but gfriend reckons none of them sold consoles. She thought it was a bit daft of them to be honest.

the title of the thread was changed yesterday when i realised that it was toy city not toymaster.
what led to me thinking it was Toymaster was when i Googled searched toymaster in longford it came up as (Mastertech Business Park) the address for toymaster Longford.. so that was where the confusion started.
When i Arrived at the address supplied by goggle it was indeed toy city.

The offer is indeed on in Sligo, I stocked up on baby equipment today (thanks, OP, my wallet owes you one!). The queues down at the computer games bit were stupidly long, so didn't check for consoles or anything like that, stayed in the nursery section. Looked like there were still plenty of toys. They were out of cot bed mattresses, but the lass I was talking to says they should get a delivery of them on Wednesday, so I'll be back ;)

Also, they let me pay with my one4all voucher, was afraid they wouldn't with the sale. So a great day shopping all round!

they were way too busy to anser phones every second of the day, they had customers like myself any many others pulling at them from left to right to reach top shelvs and go out back for stock & work on the tills at the same time

by the way they knew nothing about the 50% offers untill they opened up yesterday they were kept in the dark so that everyone got a fair chance. customers and staff

you know that is very possible! about a week ago they had 25% off everything and it excluded hardware & software! as i said earlier XTRA-VISSON staff were in looking for consoles to sell on themselvs as they were been sold for less than cost price from the suppliers

With the money you spent on petrol you could have just gone to newry and got one for ~€300...assuming its a ps3 you were after

It's nothing at all to me. However, you stated that you wanted to make a profit on whatever you bought, which obviously means that you intended to re-sell what you bought for what I can only presume is a ridiculous price.

And then you'd justify it to yourself because you "absolutely had" to go traveling around the country to pick up your stock, so you deserve a 60% markup on the goods. Sure isn't it still cheaper from you than from Xtra Vision, so what's the harm?

I'm cranky, you're trolling, so I'm off out.

Reminds me of that guy on here a few months ago who bought the mispriced xbox controllers + game from virgin online then tried selling them on to boards members for a profit.

Your abusing the purpose of the forum. Someone tells you a bargain then you go off buy them all and we miss out.

Yeah I think the objective of this forum is to point out bargains for everybody else. By buying up 3 to make money on them means that you would have deprived 2 other people (possibly on this forum) of the bargain that was being discussed just so you could make a profit for yourself.
The same would go for the Xtravision analogy (thats if it happened that way) whereby a shop avails of a bargain designed for the consumer and tries to make a profit by selling them on at a higher price. Either way the greed of others deprives people from availing of a bargain..

They would have to accept the voucher if they are listed on the voucher sites.
    jesus lads everyone does it

Maybe on fleebay and the likes but you'll find here, people who will give other posters information to enable them to get a bargain for themselves but not for reselling.
If you're just going to buy them and then sell them off at a profit, maybe you would be better off going somewhere else where your "talents" might be appreciated more.
