Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would be great to see this happen soon... Are we going for the practical talks or theory or both?

I'd certainly be interested. The first one was great.

1 with maybe a sprinkling of 2 above would be my preference.

    Subjects that would interest me;

    For 1

    1 Flash
    2 Printing (maybe framing also)
    3 Portraiture
    4 Post Processing

    and for 2

    1. Ways of Seeing
    2. Atmosphere and how to create it

    Posted above

    I probably add to that

    Conceptual Photography

Has anyone put their hand up to be the organiser of this seminar?

If not do we have a volunteer/s?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,368 ✭✭✭Covey

Not sure you need an organiser as such.

Sebzy has offered a place to hold it (if he can't I probably can). It's then up to people volunteering to give a talk/demo on something and people to show up.

This is probably suited to the more experienced members but if there was a basics/medium skills seminar at any stage i'd be very interested.

Not so, my skills would be basic/medium and I found the last one very interesting.

Are we still for the seminar?

If you are interested or if you know somebody who could give a lecture on any of above mentioned topics, please, write it here and we will se what is possible to get (lectures) and what would be the response and demand for such lectures.

    Thank you.

I think Tommie has already nabbed Stephen Crozier (stcstc) for a talk on printing :)

Some "demonstration" of "Difference between nude and portrait" would be appreciated ;)

We had a very interesting lecture in the Drogheda Club about underwater photography, not sure if it would be suitable but I found it very impressive.

The photograher is Nigel Motyer, he's been published in NatGeo (Yeahyeah, I know ) and is one of the most "renowded" photographers when it comes to underwater...

Can't find much of his work online... If googled there s a few results so maybe check them out!

    Just a suggestion!

Does somebody know the Irish photographer who won World Press Photo 2009 in Sports category? (Paul Mohan) He could attract quite a lot of attention too.

We had Podge Kelly at DCC last night. He was doing some judging for us.

At the end of the meeting I put on my Boards Hat (Nice Tweedy one with a Feather :D) and mentioned that there there was this Seminar being planned & would he be willing to give a talk. He said he would try to do so if he could, depending on when it is happening.

I have his card in my wallet, so when we have a date & if we would like him to present I can make contact.

Google is you friend :DPodge Kelly

    From his Website.
He has made three television series on
photography. The first was titled "What
A Picture" and "What A Digital Picture"
was the second. His third and most recent
is "In Focus". He created, wrote and
presented all three shows. There are
twenty programmes in the first series,
covering photography from the history of
Its inception to the present day techniques.
The second series, as the name suggests,
covers the techniques of Digital Photography
in ten half-hour shows, and the third is a mix
of both film and then digital. The first two
shows have been repeated due to popular
demand. All shows are shown on RTE 1,
    the national television station.
