Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I like listening to radio but I rarely get the chance to be in the same place at the same time every week / day to listen to the various shows. I often listen to the podcasts from rte.ie or newstalk but I was wondering if theres any really good ones I'm missing and where I might find them?

I tend to go for the talk shows, especially current affairs and sports.

guardian football weekly is absolutely savage, A+ if you are into that sort of thing.

I quite like Conversations with Eamon Dunphy from RTE, although sometimes he doesn't let the guests speak, but once you get over that, he interviews someone for 40 mins and I find this really throws up some interesting things you wouldn't normally hear.

I dont PC as such as I spend all day listening to radio, but the GU football weekly mp3 rocks as said. Having an internet radio with On demand service also lessens the need to download.

I used to have a mountainous list of podcats on my i-pod but I've pared it down over the years to about 8 or 9. It really depends on your own specific interests what you'd like or not but as already mentioned above the twice-weekly Guardian Football Podcast is as good as it gets from a football point of view - BBC 5 Live's Up all Night football podcast is alright but a bit more rambling.

For what it's worth my Top 5 POdcasts are:

    1. Guardian Football Weekly
    2. Mark Kermode's Film Reviews from 5 Live
    3. The Best of You Tube (it's just a short clip usually)
    4. Talking History from Newstalk
    5. Starstuff from ABC (Australia - Astronomy)

For me it's got to be the The Bugle with Andy Zaltzman and Jon Oliver. It's a comedic podcast about current affairs that covers everything from the banal to the serious and is great.

It covers British and American affairs as Zaltzman lives in London and Oliver moved to New York to work for the Daily Show. Check it out, you can get it on itunes or through the times online.

    2. BBC Focus Magazine (monthly podcast)
    3. Stephen Frys Podgrams (not very regular)
    4. Dunphy/Marian
    5. 606 Phone in

    BBC
    World Service documentaries/interviews
    Kermode's film reviews

    Guardian
    Weekly interview

    NPR
Education, environment, health, it's all politics, on point with Tom Ashbrook (probably the one I listen to most).

I end up downloading more than I've time to listen to, but I catch up when I can. They've more or less replaced radio for me.

What software do you all use to find/manage podcasts? I bought a phillips go-gear MP3 player with FM radio today but I don't think it works with i-tunes.

Some absolute cracking suggestions here, my current subs:

    *Adam and Joe
    *Liveline
    *GU Football Weekly
    *Talking History
*The Meaning of Words (doesn't seem to have been updated in ages tho)
*RTE Documentary (although if they keep listing the same show over and over as it repeat, I'm going to unsub)
*Ricky Gervais (not updated often, but always worth the wait)
    *Stephen Fry

lads - fond as I am of the odd Stephen here and there, we're going to have to knock this on the head - it's going to cause hassles. So, please, no more Stephens or "just comings" on this thread, there is an Adam and Joe thread I'd love to see continue, so lets restrict this to there for now.

btw - I'm not giving out :) I've done it myself. But let's all march forward into a stephen-less future, outside of the a&J thread.
