I'd be in for 9 min miles?, If we get a big response for this week, maybe have 2 pace groups, sub 9 and sub 10 min miles?

    Hi all,
Haven't run in one of these sessions before but would like to give it a go. McMillan tells me to run at 8.40 average pace so anything from 8.20 to 9.00 would be good for me.

I can go with 9 if that suits. As you say lets see what we get and decide then.

    Splitter :p

Might be worthwhile if splitting the groups to say something like this:

Sub 9 min lsr is for marathon target *** and less
Sub 10 min lsr is for marathon target *** and less

You may get novices thinking sub 9 would guarantee them sub 4, I'd say best to offer the pace groups and let them decide what they're able for.

I might joine ye guys for the first 6 or so. Unfortunately i have to do 8 @ MP (7'15/mile) after 6, so I'll leave you then. Anybody else interested in doing 15 incl 8 @7'15/mile? I'm not sure I'll be able to talk much but would be glad of the company...

I might do 2/3 warm up and do 6/7 @ that pace.

This weekend, I'm due 13 with 8 @ marathon pace. I'd be happy to do 6 with the 9am 9minute crowd and then do 7 slower ones around 9.30/10 pace if anyone fancied joining me for that at 10 at the car park?

There's a fair amount of variation, but people doing 8.30-9 minute mile LSRs are probably going for about a 3.30 marathon, and people doing 9.30-10 minute LSRs are aiming for a sub-4 marathon.

Jeepers, a lot got posted there between when I started writing my last post and eventually got around to actually submitting it!!

jebus, this is getting complicated - so do we need to forget the pace in the overall post and just put sub sections so something like :

    Location: Phoenix Park
    Time: Saturday 9th July
    Meet: Papal Cross 9am
    Session: LSR

    Confirmed:

    Pistol_75 12 miles @ 9:15 - 9:30 pace

Meno - 15 miles @ world record pace

    sorta thing?

Maybe I'll just have a lie on this saturday and revert to the world of lone LSrunning for a week! :)

I have no problem doing 13 if you want to do the first 5 around 9:30 pace and last 8 @ 9 min pace which is what I think you were suggesting? I'm sure Vagga would be ok for this as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,855 ✭✭✭✭average_runner

My plans seem to be changing(wife is sick) but i might be able to make it to the park on sat but i need to do some PMP too.

Think my plan is 5/6 slow ones and then 10 hopefully at 8 min pace.

Anyone up for this if I can make it, will confirm it on Friday.

    Thanks

That's what my plan prescibes alright. Now whether I'll be able for the full 8 @ 9 min pace remains to be seen, but it wouldn't bother me if I had to drop off after a while and leave yee on.

I am! But I'm like a fine wine, check back here in 10 years and see if you're as well preserved then as I am now! :P Bet you look all broken down like Meno!
