I need to do 13 miles but on Saturday but my pace seems to be alot slower than most on here. I am looking at 10:25. Anyone out there going as slow as me on saturday :o

I'd be happy to run with you on Saturday. I'd hope to do a few more than 13 though, so I could get a few done before/after.
I'll aim to be over there for 9am.

Need to get a good LSR in the bag so il pick this on Saturday. Just out of curiosity, would anybody be driving to the park for the run where i could maybe drop off a bag or is there anywhere close by that people know might be grand for putting a bag in?

Are there any regular groups training in Phoenix Park area weekday evenings (from 6:30/7pm ) and possibly weekends (morning, evening, I don't mind)?
I find I run much better with training partners than I do alone, and being relatively new to Dublin, running with others who know the area a little better allows me to focus more on enjoying the run and less on not getting lost (I've done plenty of that so far!).

My pace is currently around 10m30/mi (6m30/km), but when I recover from my current 'low' I'll probably pick up to 5m30/km (8m50/mi) pace.

    Regards,
    Angela

Some of the clubs around there (Donore, Liffey Valley, Civil service Harriers? ) are bound to have training sessions on weekday evenings that you could join.

9ish pace is fine for me. Are you planning to start at 9am? I can do the other 8 slightly slower if I need to.

I'm planning to run up to and then around the park, so I can be at the car park for 9

Thanks Ray, I didn't even think about Civil Service Harriers - I know they're in the middle of Phoenix Park, and so far as I know the closest to home for me. I just found out about Donore Harriers too - they're a littel further down the road from me but not by too much. Seems they have Tue/Thu evening runs, with a possible Wed evening too. I'll see if I can get in touch with Civil Service Harriers to find out about their group runs, and I'll join Donore for a few outings as well.

I'm embarrased to admit that my training has really slacked off since arriving in Dublin a few months ago. My own stupid fault, but I'm now more than ready to get back on track - I've entered Dublin Marathon (Oct) and Half (Sept) but would like to complete a marathon before that as part of my training. I'm still a long way off, but I think that once I'm back to regular running (4 times a week) I should regain that 'lost' fitness fairly quickly.

You want to run a marathon before Dublin to train for Dublin?

I foot see any harm in it if its run at a pace than pmp for Dublin.

That's my ultimate goal - but given that there's only about 3 months to go for Dublin, I'll probably have to settle for a 35km LSD about 3 weeks before...

My problem is that I rather enjoy those longer distances (some of my best running memories are along the routes of various marathons), and even more, I enjoy being fit enough to run them, and can't wait to get my fitness levels back up to what they were not so long ago. Lots of hard work ahead of me, I know, but the rewards make it all worth-while!

Stop using that predictive text Oisin. Either that or don't post while drinking...:P

Are you going to do Longford BTW?

Yeah its the phone that has it. What i meant to say was. I dont see any harm in covering the distance once it is done at a lsr pace.
Probably not now as im doing dingle and they are very close but you know me:D

Yeah, I am thinking of Longford for the very same reason you mentioned to Angela RI. Not advisable for a first time marathoner perhaps, but I am thinking of doing it as an LSR run with a few PMP miles at the end....
