Hi, I've been looking into building a new pc for the last while and I've specced up this on Hardwareversand and am quite happy with it. However I would appreciate if the knowledgeable people here could have a look over it to see if I missed something or where the build could be improved. I already have an Antec 300 case,500W Seasonic S12II power supply and 500GB Seagate Barracuda (7200rpm,32MB cache) that I will use with the bits purchased from Hardwareversand.

My main uses of my computer are web browsing,coding/web development, photo editing in Gimp/Digital Photo Professional(RAW file editor) and some light gaming.
I dual boot Windows XP with Linux Mint at the minute and I seem to be using Linux more than windows, so Vista is there really for games/if something doesn't work on Linux and for the Nokia software for my phone.

I was looking at the e5200 but I think the extra cache, speed, faster FSB on the E7300 is worth the extra few quid.Is it?
Is it worth getting PC8500 RAM over PC6400 RAM
    Is that DVI cable ok?

    Sorry for the long post.

    Thanks

Thats a solid build, only thing I would change is maybe get a Q6600 instead of the fancy motherboard.

Ebay is the place to buy dvi/hdmi cables, you can get whatever length you want for under €10 posted.

Cheers for the reply Squall20. I think I might go for the P43 version of that board you linked to as the P35 board can only support 4GB of DDR2 or 4GB DDR3. I had to change the screen as the one picked previously seems to have been discontinued.

These are the only things I changed the rest of the build is the same.

New Total Price is €770.96 delivered.

I also priced the same build on Komplett - €813.99,for pickup at their depot in Blanchardstown.

There's €43 in the difference but I'd have the parts quicker from Komplett and as I live near their pickup point,it would easier to return any faulty bits(hopefully I won't need this convenience!).

Vista, the motherboard and monitor are all out of stock/have "No information. A delivery time of more than 1 week is possible." beside them.

Komplett is tempting but I might wait another bit to see if Hardwareversand get those 3 things in stock.

I think I'll stick with the E7300 as the Q6600 is a lot more power hungry and I don't do much video encoding,so I've no real need for a quad.

Right, I think I'll go with this from komplett

    MSI P43 NEO-F, P43, Socket-775, DDR2,
    1600FSB, ATX, ICH10, PCI-Ex(2.0)x16 €69.00

    Sapphire Radeon HD 4670 512MB GDDR3,
    PCI-Express 2.0, 2xDVI/HDMI/HDCP €71.50

    Samsung DVD±RW burner, SH-S223F, 22x,
    DVDRAM 12x, Black, Bulk €22.89

    OCZ Platinum DDR2 PC8500 4096MB Kit,
    w/two 2048MB PC8500 XTC, CL5-5-5-18 EPP €50.00

    Samsung 24" LCD Syncmaster 2493HM,
    1920x1200, 10000:1, 5ms, DVI/VGA/HDMI €359.00
    366002

    Intel Core™ 2 Duo E7300 2,66GHz,
    Socket 775, 3MB, 1066MHz, Boxed w/Fan €112.46

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Eng €112.00
    SP1 OEM DVD 64bit

    Total: €796.85
Delivery to Komplett Pickup Point €12.00

    Total:€808.85

This is my first time building a pc so I'd appreciate any comments on the MSI board I've picked and whether the RAM is ok - never used OCZ before.

I may give this a small overclock, say to 3GHz - would the stock cooler be ok for this?
