    Why buzzes closed is beyond me, they were always packed for lunch. One of the best places in town to get lunch.

    La Srada closed about 2 years go is it? Amazing place...

    That's the annual scam by shoe zone - read the small writing in the signs.

    Warehouse Closing Down. - "Warehouse" being in small letters.

    In May they'll have a "Stock Liquidation Sale" and in Septemeber it will be some other gimmick.

    Part of the huge Shoe Zone group in UK - about 800 stores. Originally Saxone / shoefayre / stead & simpson. Always have a sale on just like right sh1te tiles & carpet Sh1te.

    I'm surprised with all the different regulations that they can still get away with such false advertising. :mad:

    not 100% sure, trying to picture it, the last time I went to florino's. The furniture has closed, as has the car sales shop beside it.

    Dont forget of course that there are a lot of firms gone out of business that we would not really notice. Contractors, small and medium. Even the two man operation.
    Things are looking bad out there at the moment. God help me I am getting worse that that George Lee fella.
    Cut backs, short ime, part time, pay cuts etc etc Every company is lloking at these options and more often than not closure.
    This thread will be filling up with firms going out of business I am afraid.
    Ah hell someone kick me for being the pessimist.

    yeah the small businesses I wouldn't be aware of, the shops & pubs would be the only ones I would notice.

    As far as I know that place has now moved out to the new Business park on the Wexford road and is just across from the FM auto's garage.

    Very true, but with great business at that time, why not open during the day? Close in the evening? I dunno... just an idea.

    A lot of them pubs have a lot of patrons at night, which will keep the place running, buzzes had very very little going on after lunch time... It's sad, it's one pub I would like to see reopen.

    Yup, what about the new place out where doyles used to be? Shamrock development or something? Should bring a few jobs in.

    There is a BOI & NIB bank due to setup there. There is also letting available for a bookies and hair salon I think. Its offering competive rates for office space as well in the nationalist last week so hopefully should see a few businesses possibly setting up there. Will be small considering the size of it but better then none at all.

    Think positive and spend what you can locally - keep the jobs going!!
    Thats my moral booster for the day.:)

    The car sales shop you refer to is the same FM Autos (Opel dealer) that tommycahir mentions. They didn't actually close, they just moved a few years ago to a brand new showroom on the Wexford rd. AFAIK they're still in business.

    [Edit]
    ACC Bank have closed their Carlow branch and re-located to Kilkenny.

    Sadly I drove through Tullow twice yesterday, and on both occasions there was a large queue of people outside the Department of Family and Social Affairs. All of them were signing on.

    The best of luck and wishes to them all. Hopefully they will get jobs sooner rather then later. I fear they may have a long wait.

    +1

    In many cases, where one business closed another has moved in or is trying.
    Rainbow-->Kid clothes shop
    Finnegans --> Bank
    Lennons --> Another f'ing Bookies (too many of them imo)
    Brown St Bar --> casino (planning permission recently refused by CoCo)
    Easons --> gift shop

    Hopefully this trend will continue even if at a slower pace.
