Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm assuming that us beta users will get some sort of discount when we're finally forced to buy, I'm not giving them any money until they get desperate.

No we get no discount as far as I know. I doubt microsoft will get desperate. The pre order prices are cheaper than their equivalent vista counterparts are now.

Windows 7 RTM installed and running sweetly and with no expiry date - a happy bunny I am!

  • Registered Users Posts: 202 ✭✭MrSparkle

I've Windows 7 Ultimate RTM running on an Asus N10, it's running really well. picked up all the drivers straight away even a fingerprint reader that had to be manually installed with Windows 7 RC. Haven't really had any issues with it.

I'll still hang onto my XP partition for gaming. Atom processor is ok under XP for gaming, tried it on the RC and it was awful.

How do you mean no expiry date? RTM doesn't have one except for the 30 days before activation is required.

I mean that unlike the RC version, this won't automatically reboot every 2 hours from March of next year, it's basically the first official version. Activation tool was included where I got my version.

due to this thread I got both 32 and 64 bit versions at the weekend. The 64 bit is the only one installed to date and it was easily the simplist MS OS install i have ever done.

Tried downloading a copy at work but due to the fire wall it would not let me but when I refreshed the page I kept getting new serials :D 8 serials for each once i copped it :D

    Hi,
I use various websites to watch streaming/p2p.
one i know i can mention is justin.tv but its happening on other sites i use as well.

The problem is i am getting no audio. The speaker symbol is red.
I have added them to compatible mode on IE8,made no diffrience.
I have tried them on Firefox and have the same problem.
I am using RC build 7100 on a Dell inspiron 1720.

i have a desktop running windows XP and have tested the sites on it and have no sound problems on that.

Anybody know what the problem might be using windows 7?
    cheers.

P.S this problem does not affect youtube etc,so i dont think its a hardware problem.

Hello again, posted this a while ago now without a reply.
I wonder would somebody who is running RC 7100 be kind enough to test justin.tv to see if they can receive sound?
it is a LEGAL site and you do not HAVE to become a member to watch the streaming video.
the red color on its speaker symbol is on their player, not on my computers speaker symbol.

it would only take a minute and would help me identify the problem.
    thanks in advance.

Must be a hardware/driver issue rather than a windows issue.

what was making me paranoid was were Microsoft using my *anon* feedback to tip off broadcasters

Microsoft tipped off Sky tv when their DRM had been hacked, and sky withdrew the service for over two months!

If you were planning to download the release candidate of Windows 7, you're too late. But there are still ways to try the system for four times longer than the standard 30-day trial period.
Microsoft has, as scheduled, removed the release candidate of Windows 7 from its download sites. That edition, which had been available since May, marked the penultimate stage in the new operating system's development process. Those people who downloaded it will be able to continue to use the prenatal OS until March 2010, when it automatically and officially expires. (Source: pcworld.com)
If you want to get an official copy direct from Microsoft or through a retailer, you'll now have to wait until the system's release in October -- though in some markets you can order now and pay a discounted price.
    Final Edition Already Available

It is possible however to get your hands on the final edition now, either by subscribing to Microsoft's Developer Network, TechNet or Subscriber services, or by copying the installation disc directly from a subscriber. (Source: zdnet.com)

Getting and installing the software in this way is not likely to get you into legal trouble. Why? Because Microsoft allows users to install Windows 7 without paying for it. The system will work for 30 days after which users are required to activate it, at which point they'll need to prove they have paid for it.

Please no links to sites that have crackz :)

Note: just because microsoft don't enforce licensing properly don't make it legal to bypass it

Should be fine. Win7 appears to scale really well.
    http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9136192/Windows_7_How_low_can_you_go_
    I've run it on an old Dell with a 2.66 GhZ P4, 1GB RAM and 256MB 7600GT.

You may need to turn aero off on older GPUs but the 7400 in that should be fine.
