SONY DCR-SR45E Camcorder - Terrible quality video for $400!

    On my last trip to the states I bought a Sony Handycam HDD DCR-SR45E for about $400. I bought it in a department store - not off a stall or anything!

    When I finally got around to putting the videos on my PC, I was shocked at the shaky quality. This would hardly pass on Youtube - seriously.

    Some of the reviews for it are great but these seem to be from sony & stores - Cnet seems to agree with me though - http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/camcorders/0,39029966,49298440,00.htm

    Does anybody know if there could be something I did wrong - the wrong movie type ? settings ? or If I was to convert the files could it help ? ...
