Soccer Forum vs. Poker Forum

Right basically the Soccer forum and the Poker forum are going to play each other in a game of football.

Date: Sunday 18th. January
Venue: UCD
Undecided whether it will be 60 or 90 minutes match.

So who wants to play?
Before you volunteer bear the following in mind:

(1) Only volunteer if you actually intend on playing. Don't bother saying you'll play if you know full well you won't.

(2) Not everyone can be Thierry Henry or Fernando Torres. We need midfielders and defenders too. If we can get a decent keeper early that would be great.
Also don't say you can play CM if you have never played there and you just fancy being like your hero Stephen Gerrard. CM is a very physical position and you need a good engine to last a match playing there.

(3) If you want to play respond saying so in this thread. PM me saying you'll play and with your real name. Also state what position you play in.

So far we have:

Frisbee - AM
KaG - CM
Dub13 - CB

I also have one or two lads I'm waiting to get confirmation from so their reserved a space until I hear otherwise.

Now with all the annyoing stuff out of the way who fancies a game?

Should the Boards Team not be playing this game (or at least be offered this game), since they are in fact the official Boards Soccer Forum Soccer Team?

Well if Boardeaux wants to play the Poker Forum their welcome to challenge them aswell.
I don't understand why, considering I don't play for Boardeaux and neither do the other people who want to play, Boardeaux should play the match we're organising?

also worth noting that i think there is 1? maybe none? people who play for boardeaux who post in the soccer forum

I'm not having a go at you, just saying that if the Soccer Forum play the Poker Forum and the Soccer Forum already has a team, they should really be the only team playing under the name of the Soccer Forum. Maybe I'm just being pedantic, I dont play for Boardeaux anymore myself btw.

So if you don't play for Boardeaux you can't play under the name of the Soccer forum?
Also I thought Boardeaux was the Boards.ie team, not the Soccer forum team?

As I said before if Boardeaux want to play against the Poker Forum they may as well go ahead.

But I don't think it's fair to say that the rest of us can't organise a game just because Boardeaux originated in the Soccer Forum.

Also Des knows all about this and doesn't seem to have a problem.

I can play this. I actually played for the poker forum before but I barely post there and they have a decent team together now after a few friendlt games.

DM/CM (preferred position) or LM for me. Could also do LB if needed. I currently play midfield for a team.

The Boardeaux team are the 'official' boards team and play in organized leagues/cups etc.This is basically a ad hoc game of ball between two boards forums.

Well I'd strongly prefer to play in the centre but seen as I'm left footed I'm assuming there may be a shortage of them so can play on the left as well.

I said I'd play if it was on a saturday or sunday, as it's a sunday then I'd be delighted to play, forward would be my preffered position, but also handy in centre mid, don't have the engine the play on the wings right now.

I can play too. I'm a CM or RM, or utility man up front if needed though I prefer the middle. Is it going to be on astroturf or grass? And at what time on that Sunday?

I'm up for this, although whether I should play for poker or soccer is a matter of debate. I'll throw my hat in with the soccer lads I think.

I'm out of the country until the 11th but I'm free on the 18th so will definitely play. I'll pm frisbee with details.

Star Striker, but can fill in at centre half if required.

On this point I'm not sure whether or not you can wear boots on this surface, or astros. Im 90% sure you can but will confirm when I book pitch, their not open again till Monday so will let you all know then
