Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Think we should hold a pre match press conference.

Poker Team manager complains over Refs bias. The Fhacts are that the Soccer team get preferential treatment from Referee's, particularly Des. He is known to be friends with a lot of them. Surely someone with so much power shouldnt be allowed ref a game where he can use his power to help his friends.

Good on ya though Des, a good ref is much appreciated. You should defo be paid for it too.

    What rules are we implementing?

    Offside?

    Slide tackles?

In the Astro.ie League, in which the Boards Team plays there is no offside, and no slide tackles allowed.

    There IS a backpass rule.

Im guessing no slide tackles. This is synthetic grass, not hockey astro, so maybe slide tackles are ok. Whatever the masses think?
May aswell go with no offside aswell.

100% fifa laws of the game, if someone is foolish enough to slide tackle then fair enough! just do your best on the offside, should be no backpases either!! just my opinion but obviously majority rules...

I'd say only call the obvious offsides and other rules as normal. Obvious as in someone standing on the post while the defenders are on the halfway line.

Whether someone is a yard offside is impossible for anyone to call.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

    should be no backpases either!!
I may have been misunderstood here.

What I meant was that there is a backpass rule. As in it IS impemented.

    I don't know about offside.

How about a "gentlemans agreement" to no hatching.

i'd be the linesman but if anyone talked to me like Rooney did yesterday & they'd be getting a flag up their hole.

If you were the linesman then I think you might find yourself with that flag up your own hole, and not because of anything to do with the game! :p

I'd agree on the offside there.
Will be impossible for Des to call it.
So 'No Hatching' is the way to go. If Des can clearly see you were offside then he can call it.

Actually, you should make it last man back.

I'd love to see the reaction to someone who wasn't the last man making a spectacular one handed diving save to deny a winner in the last minute then trying to say he was.

For offside there might be a chance to use the old NightOwls rules. If there is a hockey 20 yard/meter line then that's the offside line. If you're inside that with only one player between you and the net and the ball is played to you then you're offside.

Seems a reasonable compromise to me anyway.

Good idea, and one I'm willing to go with, if there is :

    a. a line on the pitch
    b. agreement

Laura, is there a line on the pitch?

There's no hockey line. We'll just have to judge it as we see it.
I reckon letting Des decide is the best way to go.
If someone is a mile off/hatching he can call it.
If it's too tight he can't, and no-one's to give him **** about it either.

I back you 100% on this man.
Your taking time from your own life to do us a favour. Anyone who gives you **** from the Soccer team will be subbed off immediately. No excuses.
If someone decides to persistently mouth at you I reckon you yellow them.

Also can I suggest that anyone who gets a yellow spends 5 minutes in the bin?

There is a 5 minute sin bin in place in the Astro League

the player may not be subbed, the team plays with 10 men for the duration.

I'd actually like to see a sin-bin in proper football.

Yup that's what I meant. Might stop people acting up if they know the team is gonna suffer for it.
I'll be sticking up a teamsheet lads once I get a PM back from everybody.

Lads I was thinking 3 periods of 30 mintues each would be the best way to go for this?
    Anyone have objections/ different idea?

Also moulded studs are allowed on this but if your not sure bring your astros.
Everyone has to have shinguards, there will be clumsy tackling if people haven't played for a while.

Gentleman's agreement to offside. So no hatching and if Des can see someone is clearly offside he'll call it. If he can't, he won't, simple as.

Yellow card means 5 minutes in the sin bin and your team goes down to ten.

Having played in this before there were 3 reasons:

    1) The team we played before wanted to experiment with formations/players and wanted 3 periods to do it.

    2) It worked out well for those on our team who don't regularly play and found making 45 mins a bit of a stretch.

    3) It makes it easier to divide up the time people get on pitch. Everyone gets at least 2 periods of three rather than a half means nobody is just standing there in the second half feeling they won't get back on.

    FAO Des. Already offered! :p

R u managing the team Des?!

Al I never said i couldn't play due to phatness (though after tonights kickabout that might be true - coughed out a lung) - i said i wouldnt be able to make it due to my attending a seminar.....which is now on the Saturday. I am best as a striker but u seem sorted there and I will readily admit right now that I would have absolutely no chance of surviving in midfield due to my current lung situation! So if you're stuck gimme a shout.
