He said a lot of really hurtful stuff though about not wanting to see us again, really upset, have never seen him so angry before.

He is obviously trying to cope with a lot of s*it right now , and I think , that at the same time , he was thinking of you.
He drove you out , rather than asking you to leave.
Let's face it , you most likely would have said " No , Dad ,I will stay "
Don't hold it against him , wait until later on today and give him a bell.
Wish them both a Happy New Year , and take it from there.:)
I have a feeling , both you and he , will be glad you did.

Stayed in tonight with my OH and had a lovely night. Brought the electric duvet (xmas present) down, put it on and snuggled under it on the sofa. Watched 2 movies (Donkey Punch, Eden Lake) and drank a few Tia Maria&Baileys Coffees :p Watching Jools Holland now. Happy New Year everyone and hope it is a good one for you.

Hi Cathy. Try not to take it to heart. My dad's a full-time carer to my mum and there have been times when we've had almighty blow-outs, sometimes over really stupid trivial things. As you well know, it's a tough tough job he's doing and I'm sure there are times when he feels isolated and like he's doing it all alone. I don't know the circumstances but I hope that he can get and is getting help from other people. My dad initially resisted help but is now delighted with it. He also initially resisted respite breaks but is now grateful for them. Sometimes these things happen step by step...

I was driving when the year changed. In fact I went for a totally unplanned and needless 150 mile spin on empty roads, listening to the best tunes of 2008...

What better way to ring in the new year than by p1ssing off John Gormley. Here's to many more of those opportunities over the next 12 months.

    Happy new year all :D
