Was wondering if that faint flash was in fact thunder.

Had a light shower a few minutes back.

At around 20:20 here in Shankill we had a single flash of lightning and one enormous, explosive crash of thunder. It was so abrupt and loud that I wondered for a moment if it had been an actual explosion somewhere very close by!

The lightning and thunder was instantaneous. Suffice to say it frightened the bejaysus out of me especially as I was working with cables and trying to fix my wife's laptop! One of the kids said he actually felt his chair vibrate in his room. Unfortunately I was facing away from the window at the time but the family report a very, very bright flash.

Alarms went off around the place while I ran around seeing if there was a tree on fire nearby...!!

No further lightning or thunder. Light rain falling but after years of weather watching here and abroad that is the LOUDEST thunder I have heard and I've heard mt fair share, trust me.

    Shankill, Dublin.

    (Laptop now working...! :D)
