VRT Query / Converting VAN to 6 Seater

We hope some one can help with
    this query

We have a new model Fiat Scudo
van, and want to convert it to
    a 6 seater.

There are 3 seats in the front and
we want 3 in the back (just like the
minibus version) and leave the rear
open like a combi/crew cab scenario.
Just windows on the two side doors
only, not the rear panels or back doors.

I think it will cost about 2-3k for the
    parts and labour.

But I want to know what the VRT due
would be as it is bringing it from a
commercial van into a car class cat?

Does any one know what this would cost?

    thanks

    A

you need to find out the OMSP of a crewcab model. conversions cost a fortune, you'd be better off trading in the existing van and buying one that's already done.

    How old is the van?

    hi colm

its a brand new van. Nov 08
want to sell it, but not sure
    what i'd get.....?

I know it will cost a bit in VRT, but
it would be cheaper than buying
    one thats converted i think.

They are on carzone for 35-38k
where as this van stands me only
    18k +3k(conversion)+5k(VRT?)=26k fin.
(thats if its 5k?-could it be more?)

No chance it'll be only 5k vrt. If it's the 2.0 multijet diesel it seems to be 198g for emmissions so it's 32% VRT. For VRT to be 5k the van would only be worth 16k ish. With seats they are 35k-38 which is what your vrt'ing so it'll be around 12-13k vrt I'd imagine

Stekelly: Surely a crewcab would be a set rate of VRT and not emissions based.

Unfortunate that you bought so late in the year, and that you didn't realise what you needed before you bought.

    .

I doubt it qualifies as a crew cab. Sure they sell it as a 6 seater and it's 38k. If they could get away with vrt'ing it as a crew cab and sell it thousands cheaper I'm sure they would.

Give Parfitt (http://www.parfit.ie/) a call. They specialise in this sort of thing and might have rough figures to hand.

In the past I've had trouble getting figures to convert smaller vans to passenger vehicles as the only way to get a definite VRT figure is to convert and take it to the revenue.

I'd expect it to cost more than €5k in VRT, and probably more than that for the conversion too.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for that - thats just the sort of information
    that I'm trying to find.

The 32% figure is what I was unsure about?

If you can picture the end result being
    (a) 3 seats in the front as is now,
    (b) 3 seats in the middle at the sliding doors and
    (c) a van type rear with no glass behind the middle seats
this is what I'm looking at doing.
    http://www.vanatic.co.uk/van/image/173/scudo_crew5__600_x_450_.jpg This type of thing.

I thought this would be a crew cab van, but its the 3500kg rule that
makes it into a car category class I think.

Is the VRT based on what the end result VRT amount would be if it was bought new like that? or based on the value of the new product in the current climate?

    cheers guys.
