Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I have a large shed, with electrictity, no water/waste pipes though.

If the lack of a toilet, insulation, and running water is addressed,
is it possible to use it as a granny flat? what do I need to do?

    Thanks!

You need to apply for full planning permission for change of use.
This is more sucessful when the garage is attached to the house in rural areas.

Might be worth having a Pre-planning meeting with your local Planner. Contact your Local Authority.

    Thanks

How do I identify my "local" planner? Do I just call Fingal county council, and ask to speak to a planner, for a chat?

You could try ringing the Council, they might put you through to a Planner for a chat but most will ask you to apply for a meeting - fill out a single page form, detailing address and attach a photocopy of a map if possible (Land registry). Forms are also available at local library!

Can take about a month for an appointment. Meeting is usually about 10 mins. You will know how the Council will view your application in your area. It can be useful and more importantly its free!

You will be given a meeting record number, which can be put on your Planning application form.
