Basically its a late registered Alfa 156. Just one that wasnt sold before the 159 came in. 2008 reg, 4,200 miles, 2 years warranty left, specced up like you would expect any car nearing the end of its run and all for £6,999 + VRT.

I know its an Alfa and some people here will be dying to make smart ass comments but with the current exchange rate that has to be one of the cheapest "as good as new" cars you can buy.

7,312eur + 6,690eur to clear = 14,002 for a nearly new Alfa 156. That is not to be sniffed at. I cant imagine you would get a similar car to that here, certainly not at that mileage. The thing is basically new. Demo cars have more miles on it than that.

That has to be good value. If i remember correctly in those, the seats are very comfortable, and the dash is like in the Saab 93, aimed at the cock-pit style, all facing towards you. Best of luck if you do go for it OP.

    an absolute gorgeous car alright.

Dont mean to be the first to shed doubt but i dont think they are producing the 156 anymore, as of 2007 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_156)

I checked their site (not loading right now) but i think the 159 took over from the 156.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo)

He could have bought it in 2007 of course and only registered it in 2008 - actually reading this intro on the site sounds plausible)

Ya the 156 is gone alright, that's just after reminding me it was the 159 i was in, not the 156, so i can't judge on that.

It's a 2008 number plate. But still smells like a scam / car full of problems to me.

The layout of the 156 cabin is almost identical to the 159. Everything aimed towards the driver of the car. Unfortunately i do not have to funds to even contemplate buying the tax on one of these at the moment so i just posted it incase anyone else was interested. If its true its too good to let pass by imo.

samhail: They stopped the 156 around 2006/2007 alright but it happens where a car is old stock that hasnt been moved. If you look for a 156 on carzone and sort by price/age you will see a 2008 registered(not sure if it even was registered by the garage in 2008) 156 GTA for sale. The GTA was stopped in 2005. The dealer is hopelessly optimistic in looking for almost 50k for it even if it is a brand new car. Its an old model.

I would love to make him an offer on it though as it is my dream car. I reckon he'd take in the 30s for it now. He'll never get rid of it at that price.

I'd say he has that car paid off by now now, surely he's had it since 04/05 anyway. So in that case, he'll probably sit on it until he gets some lotto winning enthusiast lol

id say he'll be a long while waiting in this climate. You can pick absolutely mint ones up in the UK with less than 40,000 miles for about €14k all in.

edit: ****e, just posted that in the wrong thread :o

That GTA is a 03 car, and its still unregistered, it has no Xenon lights and the small front brakes that should have been upgraded. I enquired about this car last year and was quoted that price, I actually laughed in his face, there is no way I'd pay that amount of money for a car that has been sitting idle for nearly 6 years, a decent used version from the UK would be a much better buy

the car in the first post looks like good value, go for it OP!

And car dealers here wonder why they arent shifting stock . That is genuinely one of the most ludicrious prices ive ever seen for a car. 6 years with no movement cant be good for it surely.

presuming its a Lusso spec model your looking at about €7500 VRT on that. Good find OP but I'd still have a truster mechanic with you to check it from top to bottom
