Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wonder would this be a good idea for a thread.

    Rules are:
Post any question you like related to cars.
Questions can including pictures of parts of cars for someone to guess what it is etc. etc.
No stupid questions, use your discretion, this is a bit of fun.
To give your answer, you must quote the question in your post.

Who ever answers the question correctly, gets to ask the next question. Simple. Opinions? I'll get us going.

    just petrol engines.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 629 ✭✭✭cashmni1

Does this just relate to production petrol engines?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,091 ✭✭✭Biro

BMW 2002 Turbo. The year is what's getting me though... 70's me thinks?

Edit : It was the first production turbo petrol car if I'm not mistaken. It had that unique colour scheme too, white with blue and red stripes, and Turbo spelt backwards across the front splitter. Notorious for turbo lag!!
1967 is in my head, but that's definately too early for that car, so I'm sticking with the 70's. Don't think it was as late as 81 or 82.

Nope, the 135, 335 and 535 have the 272bhp engine, now possibly around 281bhp in the 335d.
You're thinking of the 330d, which has around the 215 or 2200bhp, used have 184bhp in the 530d when introduced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,313 ✭✭✭Mycroft H

Oh i get the question now..... The last petrol turbo since the 335i..... I dont think its the 2002 turbo, i think its the 745i but not entirly sure on the year, me thinks its was in the early eighties maybe eighty one??
When I was small i had a matchbox one.....

Its the funky one with the jacked up suspension and bull bars?? I think it actually was the Country or was it County? As for the engine, I'm gonna hazard a guess at the early GTI lump? It was designed for off roading so it's hardly anything less? 1.8 n/a 8v?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,313 ✭✭✭Mycroft H

Hardly the Country lol... I don't know if that's a four wheel drive either.

Bingo. Golf country was a golf with uprated suspension, bullbar, engine sheild and was fitted with the 1.8 8v gti engine and sometimes with the 1.6gtd. Partial credit to freakonaleash for the engine
