Thin Lizzy reforming????

This morning I heard on RTE that "Thin Lizzy" or something approximating to it was reforming apart from the obvious audacity of the idea is there any truth in this? I can't find anything online. If it happens I take it it'll just be a nostaglia tour.

Thin Lizzy have been touring for the last few years with Scott Gorham and John Sykes, Sykes doing vocals.

Yes,this was in the paper today too,new album apparently,scott gorham was bleating on about how phil might have wrote the old thin lizzy songs but the other musicians put their stamp on them..etc..etc..hmm...

To my mind a new album without any of phils writing is blatently riding the thin lizzy bandwagon,brian downey is no longer in the band,and john sykes was only with lizzy for the thunder and lightening album(their last) in 1983.Not sure where the drummer Tommy Alridge comes from,and they seem to have a rotating bass player,marco mendosa was the bassist when i saw them in killarney a few years ago,think its someone different now.

Phil must be spinning in his grave...he was thin lizzy.

First of all you can probably tell from my avatar that I love both Philo and Lizzy, but to state the obvious it won'nt be the same without Philo. What I loved about the 70s and early 80s albums that they made was his storytelling lyrics and real class bass playing as well. Those albums set Lizzy apart from other bands at the time, and they will always be loved.

They are great songs indeed.:D Their is still one song I'm looking for, its called 'Don'nt Play Around', its a fantastic hard rocker of a song, and I can'nt find it anywhere.:mad: They have it on the british itunes unfortunatly, but not on the Irish one.:mad:

Thanks, but its definitly not Chinatown, because I have all the hard rocking Lizzy albums up to 'Thunder & Lightning' from 1983. They are really class lyrics as well. But its actually on the compilation boxset called ' Vagabonds, Kings, Warriors, Angels Four disc set. I would love to get it.

I don't like this I have to say. I know some people have said the thin lizzy that are touring are just taking advantage of the name, but I've got absolutely no problem with them because Gorham and Sykes played their part writing those songs too, so they should be free to preform them (Just a pity Downy doesn't want to do it).

This on the other hand, is definitely taking advantage of the thin lizzy brand that Phil created. If they want to do it so badly the least they could do is release it under a different name.

By the way carchaeologist, I've never heard about that funky junction album, interesting stuff!

Some how I doubt that. He seemed to come and go a lot in Lizzy.

Ta for that,i meant i didnt get aldridges lizzy connection,I suppose they were just looking for a dummer and he was availible,great vid of crazy train though,it always amazes me how small randy rhoads looked behind that les paul!:D
