Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all

Im sure there is a post or thread on this but I cant find it. Has anyone done this trip and can you give some advice or pointers on where to stay along the way and where to avoid ?

We plan on doing this over 3 weeks this September. Were flying to Chicago and staying there a couple of days. Then hiring a car and driving the Route 66 road.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks x

I saw a few of these programs on Travel Channel recently:

Might be worth trying to find some of them to take a look.

I'm not too sure about Route 66 but I was in Chicago all of last summer and recommend that you try to fit in a visit to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs play while you are there. Then head down Clark Street after(its across the road) where there are loads of clubs. Try to organise to stay in either Lincoln Park or Wrigleyville(where Wrigley Field is). Sears Tower is worth going up. Also, if you happen to be there on a Tuesday night, get yourself to Joes Bar on Weed Street. It is a great spot to go for a night out!

    Hi,

Did 66 in 2 weeks in Sept 06, it's superb. Check out some basball in Chicago, preferably the Ccubs if they're in town. We didn't hang around too much time on the Road, I would have liked to spend more time on the 2nd half, from Texas onwards (New Mexico / Arizona are gorgeous). We spent 3 nights in Vegas too, so the days on the road were very long. The Grand Canyon is a muct, but if you have the time drive slower and go into all the small little towns along the way, you'll meet some great characters.

This Turn by Turn description is greta if you can print it out, very useful along the way. Try to get a convertible too, that goes without saying. If you have any specific Qs PM me, I'm very jealous :D

Ya go see a Cubs game instead of the White Sox. Sox suck!!
As previously mentioned try and stay up north in Lincoln Park/Wrigleyville(http://www.arlingtonhouse.com/ - grand place to stay for a few nights and in a great location.

Can't tell you much about Route 66, but I hear it's supposed to be well worth it.
