    Hi hope someone can help,
I have a desktop pc and a recently purchased laptop, bought a ZyXEL PbbOHW wireless ASDL modem router. The problem I am having is the laptop is able to access the internet no problem but the desktop wont display pages if the laptop is already connected, although the icon on my tray says "local area connection, speed 100.0, status connected" ?? It will however display pages as long as the laptop is not on.

I am not technically minded at all so lads please go easy on the tech speak thanks!

This seems to be getting more common by the day. Log into your router and make sure the DHCP server is enabled and has plenty of range, then make sure your dekstop is set to get an IP automatically via DHCP- Go to
Control Panel-Network Connections-Right Click on Local Area Connection and click properties-Scroll down and go to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties-and set everything in there to obtain an IP automatically, apply everything and it should automatically get an IP and connect, if not, try plugging out the cable for a few seconds and put it in again smile.gif.

Thanks for the reply, Tried what you suggested to no avail  , this has been wrecking my head for a week now. Any idea would it cost much to get someone out to look at it?

Hmm, are you sure that the routers DHCP server is enabled and has plenty of range? Maybe you could remote desktop with someone when the net does work on it.Can you post a screenshot of the routers page about the DHCP settings? Also, do the same connection settings for the Wirelss Network connection if connectiong wirelessly.
