Complain about being mocked and ridiculed and abused (which didn't happen imo and if you think it did you should report it) and then end on an insult? nice.

Funny .....schools dont reopen till Wednesday. Why were the school girls wearing their uniforms during their holidays?

I reckon they were on the way to a photo shoot for next months Loaded magazine titled 'Dirty School Girls get rude in 2009'

Seriously OP, having looked at both of the covers, I really don't think they are that bad and 13 year olds know more about the facts of life than their parents nowadays. I really can't see how any 13 year old girl would be in any way traumitized or offended by either of those covers

They don't. They might, however, cause as much and arguably bigger problems physically and mentally for them though than the front cover of a magazine.

Apologies in that case I thought school calenders were standardised now but while I see where you are coming from I really dont see much difference between whats in Nuts etc and teenager magazines. Most young girls feel the same way as us adults.....they dont look at those pictures and think 'wow...I want to be on a magazine cover with my hand on another womans pubic area' ...they see publicity hungry young women who are looking for five minutes of fame by taking their clothes off in public. I wouldn't underestimate young girls

Why do mothers have special concerns?

Does not agreeing with these concerns mean i'm unladylike?

Honestly, were i to be concerned it would be for young boys not knowing that there was more to sexuality than these magazines - from my own memories of being that age girls were more clued in about the media, talked more amongst themselves and honestly were i to have seen those covers with my friends at the age of 13 we'd have laughed at the baby oil that seems to be covering the women on the loaded cover, speculated about how much air brushing happened, roll our eyes at the idiotic stories being head lined on the cover, and maybe had a discussion about how the woman on the right had nice looking hair.

not sure if this is just because I'm not Irish and have had a different upbringing, ie never went to mass etc etc... but anyways it doesn't bother me in the slightest, I just don't think its a big deal. I remember in school part of my sex education was to watch porn, again not a big deal, none of our parents minded it either....

Better it be normal and not have a huge to-do made about it than give kids (who are definitely going to be clued in at that age already) the idea that nudity and sex are bad and wrong and they should be ashamed of their bodies. And treating teenagers like naive and innocent idiots is pointless.

really, I think you need to find something better to do than obsessing over magazines that nobody else is going to look twice at

well I'd like to agree with you but i seriously think that there's a big difference between Swedes and Irish peoples view on sex, like whats ok and whats not ok to talk about. And I'm not saying that Swedes are 'mad for it' or anything like it I'm just saying that i think we are more open and less shy to talk about sex and we are not as embarrassed about it.

And I'm sure some fathers of 13 year old girls would prefer them locked away until they're 40.
What's your point, honestly? Different people have different opinions?
I'm talking about the general attitude on this thread, which is generally "I don't see any problem with 13-year-old schoolgirls seeing images of two naked women touching another naked woman's crotch! In fact, I don't see any problem with 13-year-old girls watching hard core porn movies! How dare you suggest that children should be sheltered from such displays of nudity and sexuality? It's only natural! You want to send us back to the dark ages! Now can we have more big tits covered in baby oil please? Phwoarr, I'm off to the shop to get this month's Loaded, those girls look like babes."
Yes to the images, no to the pron(bit iffy on that one), and who cares what adult opinions of the magazines are? Or do you just have a grudge against them in general?

How do you know whether the people posting here have daughters or not? It is great that you want to protect your daughters but remember what Irish society was like when womens sexuality was seen as taboo. The Magdalen laundries....Irish women felt guilty for being sexual and were taken advantage of as a result. I would definitely not promote hardcore pornography for schoolchildren but the magazine covers you are talking about are not hardcore.

Some do,some don't. Some people agree with you, some don't. Angry preaching at people on the internet isn't going to convince people you're opinions are any better.

As for my opinion, meh, top shelf or at least out of reach of preteens.

If you fail to back up your arguments properly people will take a more dismissive stance of your posting. And I wasn't being sarcastic. I meant what i said.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with you expressing said concern. However you can't just expect everyone to immediately follow suit.

That's their opinion. They are as free to express it as much as you are to express yours, for better or for worse. You are free to rebut their arguments, but by and large the 'holier than thou' card is not the best way to do so.

Lets face it in the past the word sex was taboo amungst most people there lesibain or gay was blastfamous at one point... sadly the fact that we baught onto this stupid relgion closed the majority of peoples mind and i recon in 50 years we maybe some what more relaxed ...

but i gotta say this much there is a thing called the net, and girls can easilly looks at that kind of stuf if they want to ......

Dark ages? You mean, when the Catholics ruled supreme and tried to convince everyone that sex is evil? That teenagers would burn in hell for millions of years for masturbating? That a teenage girl who got pregnant (probably because she didn't have the first clue about what she was doing due to the censorship) should be shunned from society, and possibly sent to what was effectively a prison camp?

They're 13. Your daughter knows about sex. She knows what a naked woman (and man) looks like. The problem here is that, if she hasn't learned about it from a responsible adult, then most of what she knows is probably wrong and far worse than learning that "men like beautiful naked women".

Why aren't you worried about the 13-year-old boys? Is this just an extreme sexist rant that, if this is so terrible, teenage girls need to be protected, but to hell with the boys? Why aren't you complaining about all the women's magazines with their pictures of naked/semi naked men?

It's very simple. Nuts/Loaded etc are not men's magazines. They are teenager's magazines.

What are you so afraid of that these magazines might be noticed by teenage girls? What are you afraid will happen to you daughter?
