Just thinking of this today, what happens to all the rear seats that are removed from vehicles to commercialise them, I know on some of the high end 4x4s they would be leather and likely worth a fair few quid. Does the manufacturer ship them back to the factory to get put on another or do they end up getting sold on?

    Good question.

In this crazy country anything is possible I guess - like being classified as hazardous waste and shipped over to the UK to be incinerated.

Or shipped to China as a raw material, maybe donated to the Top Gear lads even...

I'm not sure what happens now, but about 15 years ago our scout den got a donation of about 30 of them.... we made up a timber for under them.... I think they were mark 2 VW golf rear seats... all matching... very hard wearing too..

The Glass and seats were crushed and burnt in that order.

I believe 'Eric Cartman' off here has made or is making a couch out of his rear bench from his jeep...

I actually saw this happen about 15
years ago, the seats panels and bits and pieces were all burned in a yard off the Naas rd. Possibly a revenue person was in attendance. No green issues then you could burn what you wanted.

Just hang onto them until the VRT is paid and then stick them back in to your X5.
