Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Chile and Argentina

Hi all. I'll be in Santiago in February and while I have some friends there that I can hang out with for a while, they'll have to go back to work eventually. What can someone do from Santiago on their own? Is it a hard country to get around in? I stupidly don't have a drivers licence so can't get around by myself. I'm finding it hard to find info on tours etc. Would it be best to just go to a backpackers and see what's on offer?

Same for Buenos Aires, I'll go there after and will have a few weeks to burn in Argentina. But from experience travelling elsewhere, without a car there's not a lot you can do unless you're on a tour. Thanks.

Chile and Argentina are probably 2 of the most developed countries in that region. So i woudn't worry about getting around. They have a good internal bus structure. In my opinion there is more to do in Argentina. I wasn't too fond of Chile. Especially compared to other South American countries. If you are staying in hostels you won't be short on tour info and what to do and where to go. Plus talk to other travelers. Usually they are a better source of info than any lonely planet.
