I also heard him licking up to that Tax Dodger's "McManus", saying how well he looked after his cancer scare. Who gives a toss. If the fat prick had a brain he would say people are dying of cancer in this country from lack of facilities because McManus is not paying tax here.

    +1
Likewise his much-ballyhooed "friend" Bono Hewson...a money-grabbing hypocrite of the first order and yet Mr "man of the people" has his head buried to the second chin up his arse.

    No he isnt..he's a piss-poor,watered down imitation of a poor-man's howard stern..he's a con-artist and a national disgrace.

Yup, I was just going to post on this and saw it had come up already. I watched 'Private Parts' last night (years since I've seen it, great movie) but parts of it reminded me of G. Ryan back in the day. The Lambo incident smelled strongly of a watered down Stern beating up his Program Controller lark, several years on. Throw that in with the 'What's he going to say next' factor. I remember him getting a slap on the wrist early on after he announced at the end of his show that Mark Cagney was playing an entire or tracks from a new album on his show and that people should have their tape recorders ready. Simpler times for sure :)

Time was though he was a good presenter in his day. Maybe it was my age at the time (around 12) but his show in the evenings on 2FM was great. He was genuinely funny though, in hindsight, he was probably starting to climb up his own hole at that point. Now I think back I remember him doing his final show ****ing on about the champagne he was drinking and thatting to Mrs. Ryan as he went. Things went very downhill after he got the morning show.

Out of interest, anyone know what became of his brother Mike? He had a gig on 2FM for a while but then seemed to vanish. He seemed like a harmless chap. I certainly don't remember anything offensive about him or that he was a bad presenter.

The fat prick..surely that sort of behaviour is covered under Incitement To Hatred or whatever the legislation is.
You wouldnt have somebody with a foreign accent ringing up for him to say "are you a paki or a nignog"?.
The fat tool was accusing the bloke of being gay..wanker that he is.

I was listening at the time (trying to drown out some babbling nearby). Ryan was trying to 'profile' the guy and came out with the 'are you gay' comment as his first pitch. I though the poor dude on the end of the line was about to lay into him but was just in shock and replied no in a wtf is that question manner???

I dont think Ryan is the worst by a long way but he is a loose canon and the above is a prime example. Hope the Broadcasting committe kick him around for this

He was bashing the chef Gordon Ramsey yesterday again. The chef was in trouble with some TV presenter in Oz, the Oz president gave out about Ramsey and of course Gerry was praising the president. Obviously still smarting from getting kicked out of the chefs house after calling him a cvnt at the top of his voice in his house while his kids were present.

That was a fook up, he should face up to that.

What's it with his obsession with supporting the administration of the USA.
He regularly talks about Clinton as the greatest statesman the world has ever seen. When Hillary Clinton was going up for the Democratic party candidate there was a fund raiser at the US embassy in Dublin strictly for expat American citizens to contribute to the campaign. Gerry Ryan somehow ensured he was at the gig getting his photo in there.
This morning he slammed BBC's Newsnight for "attacking" Barack Obama in their programme last night and of "telling lies".
He went on to refer to BBC's award winning journalist Kirsty Wark as a "cub reporter"
He is now kissing the ass of the visa official from the US embassy in the studio.
I think he is trying to get visas for all his children so they can have dual citizenship, and the more he sucks ass of US officials, he reckons their visa applications will have a much better chance of success.
He is already on record as saying his eldest daughter "Lottie", wants to work and live in New York. I'm sure we'll hear sometime soon that she was successful in her application......

Kirsty Wark is a top journalist and presenter. Ryan is a foul mouthed unqualified yob.

Haha I heard that! He's mentioned Boards a few times lately! I was only half listening, did he recommend for people in the public eye not to google themselves or something?

As much of a t*sser as he is, fair play to him. He obviously reads all this stuff about himself and can just laugh it off. He's one of the most successful radio presenters on Irish radio, so he knows for all his "haters" out there, he still has a lot of fans.

At least he doesn't go crying to the newspapers everytime a bad word is typed about him, unlike some of his colleagues  *cough* Nikki Hayes *cough*

I met Gerry through work a few months ago and thought he was very pleasant. He's as you imagine him... granted, I'm not a regular listener.

Though Nikki Hayes, mother of god how does she have such a high priority time slot in Irish radio when there's so much talent out there?

He had a good one today with two chemists and one guy from the HSE. It was gloves off and a bit of shouting and roaring. He let it run for about 40 minutes. It was good to hear both sides being allowed to get stuck into each other and he was a good host for it.

As for the alternative this week at that hour? Myles? Fanning? Dunne? Good grief. That's some knitting circle you've got right there.

    Oh yes!
So that's why he named and singled out Irish Times Journo Jim Carroll as "an awful journalist" and "useless" and "that he better get used to it" following a reference to Ryan losing listeners in an article on RTE a couple of years ago
It's why his (former) missus used to tear out unfavourable comments and articles about Gerry from the Sunday newspapers before he read them, lest he get upset.
So that's why he rang up Geraldine Kennedy, editor of the Irish Times, to plead with her not to run the review of his "book", a draft of which he had read.
So that's why he lambasted the RTE Guide's Donal O'Donohue for reviewing his book in an unflattering fashion...."I was incredibly dissapointed, shocked and saddened""My daughter was left very upset and it caused me huge problems in a very difficult time of my life"
"Who does he think he is anyway, Bob Woodward? This is not meant to be Watergate. It was insulting""I phoned the RTE Guide editor to complain, but they did nothing"
    Thick skinned....I think not!

He used to regularly say so himself on the radio, not in any sheepish, confessional, humble or apologetic way, but in a very proud "look what my great wife does for me while I'm lying in bed every Sunday morning"(insert your own joke here!):D

Ironic, considering he has the physical girth of a Roman Colosseum.

Honestly, only in Ireland would you have a morbidly obese Minister for Health radio presenter hosting a reality TV show about people losing weight.

At least RTE had the sense to let Derek Davis (gent that he is) eat his way around Ireland on his TV series.

F*ck it, I'm staying up all night with a bottle of Jagermeister to write the draft outline pitch of a new reality programme in which Eamonn Holmes, Stephen Nolan and Julian Simmons have to dress in adult nappies and eat their way out of a gigantic pie.

    Oh no....!
Our favourite jock has lost another 4,000 listeners in todays official figures which is added to a loss of 11,000 last May.
Ans do you know what he said about it on the radio this morning....?
    Nothing.
    Nada.
    Zilch.
    Zip.
Any time he ever did get a marginal increase in listenership figures,(been a long time now) he would rattle on for hours thanking his crew and production team and most of all, you, the listeners and about how much this means to him etc. etc.
If your gonna comment on the good times, at least comment on the bad times too.
    ps
Just heard him mentioning that his daughter had "got a place in New York" after he had been helping her out with visa applications etc.
So all those rubbing shoulders and socialising with the various American ambassadors and donations to American politicians and regular guest apperances of American civil servants and diplomats paid off then, huh?

Not at all surprsing and the best news in ages..perhaps the figures will finally do the talking for the taxpayer and get this conceited tub of lard off the airwaves and off the television forever.

Nothing a couple of cranes couldn't fix.

Seriously, they could put a mix-tape of music on at that prime hour and people would still tune in.

    *Obligatory positive comment about Gerry*

Did anyone hear the Spanish lady that rang him during the week when they were talking about ear piercing young infants? She practically gave him a blowjob live on air. Now I freely admit to being a fan of the show(possibly the only one on here) but this woman was something else. It was quite amusing.
