Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The above game is scheduled for a 3.00 kick off on the above date according to skysports.com.

From what i can remember, this fixture is always a morning kick off! Will it be changed to a morning kickoff or even to the Sunday as Chelsea are playing City and Sky could make it a super sunday?

Trying to make arrangements, so any help greatly appreciated!

Well seeing as the match is on a Saturday I don't really see how it could affect your arrangements that much. Just plan for the early kick off and you're sorted.

Catch 22 mate, the longer you leave it the higher the prices. If you play it safe and aim for being there before 12 on the Saturday, you have to fork out at least an extra night in Manchester if on the Sunday.

I was just checking those dates on Aerlingus and their site is offering a Lowfare option of 0.00?? You just have to pay taxes. Is that right?

Book your flights for the Sunday, that's what I have done. It was moved to Super Sunday last year with Chelsea v Arsenal afterwards. Who are they playing that weekend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,516 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

or even to the Sunday as Chelsea are playing City and Sky could make it a super sunday?

Its very likely (90% I'd say) that both these games will be on the Sunday.
Only thing that could prevent it would be either side having a Champions League game on the Tuesday.

I got stung last year when I went over to Liverpool v Man U game. It was supposed to be an early kick-off on Sat (if I remember correctly), but got changed to 1 o clock on Sunday. They usually prefer to have these games early. If I were you I would arrange my flights so I arrive early on sat morning and fly home late on Sunday evening.

This is why we always fly over on the Friday evening flight and come back Monday afternoon. Chepest flights and no chance of missing anything.:)

Thats hardly a gamble? Surely thats covering all possibilities. A gamble would be booking saturday morning and leaving at 4pm saturday afternoon. Either way, I'm just jealous...it could be a cracking game, for twice!

I'd say you'd get good odds on that. 30/1 at least.

Trying to make travel arrangements for games in England is an absolute joke. Even when there was some 3pm Saturday kick offs I got stung. I had my flights, match tickets and hotel sorted for a Charlton Athletic game and it turned out the match was switched to the Tuesday after because United were playing in the semi finals of the cup. Lesson learned there...

I now just book the tickets through a travel agent and let them deal with the travel arrangements. Worst thing is, most of them are by bus/ferry... :(

Yeah I'm going to the Utd. v Everton game next month and went through a travel agent, at least that way I have a guarantee. Although going by Ferry is a bit of a pain but at least I don't live in Letterkenny where the coach starts it's journey at something like 3am. :(

I'm on the same one this weekend for the Chelsea game and again for the Spurs cup game, the Cavan one leaves at 5! At least at 3 you're only leaving a nightclub!! :D

Booked cheap flights for the trip home. The bus journey is horrible. :(

yeah - last time i went i looked into getting a cheap flight home, but couldn't. Bus/Ferry home is a nightmare.

    I'm going for 1-1

Liverpool to get a stunner of a goal from someone like Stevie or Torres early in the first half. Dominate possession for the next 20 minutes, then backs to the wall as wave after wave of United attack hammers Reina's box.

An unexpected United player to pop up with equalizer for United, someone like Fletcher or O'shea, or maybe a full back, Evra, who has for the first time in the match slipped forward unnoticed and is completely unmarked in the box when a cross is whipped in from the other flank in the 86th minute.

United spend the next 4 minutes, plus 6 minutes of time added on, going for the jugular, but ultimately failing to take advantage of Liverpool being down to 10 men, Xabi Alonso having limped off following a crunching tackle from Paul Scholes in the 88th minute.

Is the Ferry home really that bad?

Aerlingus have 3 flights back the next day. The ideal one is 12:15 but is €99 plus taxes and the other 2 are Free (I'd just have to pay the taxes) but aren't great times, 08.00 & 19.25

Well, when i went, we left the trafford centre at about 10 or so, busing it to the ferry for a 2 am or so trip, getting back to dublin around 6 in the morning, having started out at around the same time the previous day. It is doable, but if you can get a cheap enough flight back the next day or that evening (unlikely) it is a much better option imo. Ferry travel isn't all the comfortable if you can not grab a couch/couple of nice chairs quick enough for the trip back.

I'd do the ferry route again, but i'd prefer to get a plane.

With the 19.25 flight you could do some shopping round manchester - the megastore at OT is a no-go on Match day really, madness in there. Trafford centre has some great shops too, so there would be stuff to do. If you can get a place to bunker down for the night at a good price it would not be a bad way to do it, imo.

I'm actually staying the night anyway, it's one of those over night deals that includes Ferry/Hotel/Tickets, I just don't fancy 2 days on the Ferry. Going over should be ok, but coming back would be a pain.

Sat 3pm kick off - United will be out of it by then...:pac:

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I don't think th eFerry would be too bad on the way back (as it would be a 9am sailing iirc) So the bars, restaurants and cinema will be open - some stuff to keep your mind off it. Its the bus jouney back to howth that might be the biggest pain.

However, if you are staying the night anyway, and you can get a cheap flight back at 7pm the next day, i'd go with the flight and some shopping in manchester, taking advantage of the hopefully still weak pound. It wouldn't be even close to a tough choice.
