I have been with Vodafone for years and I want to upgrade my phone.
The one I want is exclusive to Meteor, if I get it is it possible for vodafone to unlock it for it to work with my old sim card

    Thanks

in direct answer to your question, no vodafone will not unlock a meteor phone. But there are other ways, e.g. Getting it done in an unlocking shop

its usually possible to buy these phones on the interweb unlocked. nothing is really as exclusive as they let on

Vodafone won't be able to unlock it but Meteor might depending on the circumstances. It's probably easier to get it unlocked or do it yourself.
It would be a great help if you sasid what the phone was.

If you buy a meteor phone and get it unlocked if it ever goes for repair chances are it will be relocked to meteor when you get it back...
I'm mad to know what this exclusive Meteor phone is:rolleyes:

The cookie is a 2G phone....would an LG viewty (3G) on Vodafone not be a better option.....
If your not worried about quick mobile internet there would be no harm in what you doing....good phone by all accounts....

Edit, I forgot what your up to, either stay with vodafone and get a viewty etc or move to meteor and use the cookie, I think it's be a waste of time getting it unlocked so you can use it on vodafone....

If that is the case then, what would be the best place to get that done?

The last phone I had was the Viewty and I broke the screen.
But I still want a touchscreen phone and the Cookie to me looks better

Is the Viewty still available with Vodafone as it isn't on their website

Did you know you can keep your vodafone number when you move to meteor....
I don't think what your up to is a good idea...

Cheers, I didn't know that, seems to be the best option so.

    Thanks

It's a pretty tough toucscreen, you must have given it a good belt...
the Viewty is the better phone it has 3g, hsdpa, xenon flash, slow motion vidoe, excellent camera etc. The Viewty is a high end 3G phone while the cookie is a entry level 2G phone...

Not sure if they stopped selling them, you should try a few real shops and see if they still have some....

why won't you move to meteor to get the cookie, last time I checked they were cheaper than vodafone...

I have always been with Vodafone without any problems
Is there any real difference in terms of quality or coverage between the two?

The Cookie is E179 with Meteor and the Viewty is E159
If the Cookie is not as good as the Viewty I won't get it so.

it depends on your area really. personally i think it's a risk to switch to meteor to get the phone without unlocking it because if the coverage in your area is bad you're then either stuck with bad coverage or a phone you can't use if you move back to vodafone. if you have an old unlocked phone it might be worth switching before buying the new one and trying out the network for a while or even asking a friend who's on meteor what it's like

maybe ask in the unlocking thread at the top of the forum to see how easy it is to get it unlocked. Columbia Rad should have an answer very quickly for you. if you can get it done for a few euro there's nothing to worry about

its a freaking crazy idea to change to a different network to get a particular phone anyway

the phone he wants to switch for, the cookie, is not 3g.

and you really put too much emphasis on 3g. there are many many more important things by which a network should be judged

hey I didn't mention them, there really in my bad books at the moment....op was also considering the Viewty, now that is a 3G phone that deserves a 3G Network (Please 02 bring out a relax price plan:rolleyes:)

the cookie and the viewty are close enough in price to make the viewty the better buy...

they cut me off the day my bill was due (i don't trust them with the direct debit thing), now i'm with them over 3 years and this annoyed me a little bit on christmas week as you could imagine in my line of work:)

tbh, I though you gone working for them in Sweden:D

Can we just take a moment here please people, cherish the idea that Drunkmonkey no longer campaigns for 3. OP The viewty is only available to shops that do vodafone only- ie not a shop that does Meteor as well, Meteor is grand, Check and see which network those you ring the most are on, is it vodafone or meteor / both do free texts to any network so theres no reason to pick Meteor over vodafone for that reason. Meteor aren't that much cheaper anymore since they hiked up the minimum connection fee to 9c and texts are 1c cheaper if you haven't free texts. Its way easier to pay the few €'s more for a phone on the network you'll be using it on as I hate to input settings like MMS and GPRS Settings into an LG phone!!
