er... no issue with BT so far
btw there are 2 kinds of eircom pop3 servers( old and new)
    webmail.eircom.net
    mail1.eircom.net
    did u try both?

i've never tried to access my eircom mail address directly from NTL because I've been using the gmail pop3 forwarding service to filter my eircom mails through the gmail spam filters (catches 99% of my eircom spam) since back when i was on BT broadband before moving to NTL.

then I just set up pop3 access in gmail too and use those settings for sending and receiving with my return email address as my original eircom one so nobody knows any different unless they start looking at mail headers.

it sounds complicated but it works flawlessly, aside from a couple of minutes delay on my eircom mail which i can live with for the almost total lack of spam.

so eircom mailbox > gmail pop retrieval > gmail pop3 account access > regular mail client

you have to set up the 2 middle options in your gmail account but it's pretty easy and there's lots of guides online on how to do it and it only takes a few minutes.

if all else fails give thata go and see how you do.

From a previous post on here it looks like the ntl settings should be:
    pop3.upcmail.ie
    smtp.upcmail.ie

    so you should try

    mail1.eircom.net for your pop account

    and then the

    smtp.upcmail.ie for the smtp

I assume that you will be required to enter your eircom mail password to access the mail.
