Hiya, just wondering how hard this would be if I wanted to get the parts and do it myself. Would I be able to do it myself or will I have to bring the car to a garage. Anyone knows how much it would cost, parts + labour? The car is 1998 Ford Escort 1.4 Ghia.

    Thanks in advance,
    Sy

Any good motor factors should help you. Give them a ring early in the morning and thel probably have the parts in stock or if they dont, you can order them and have them by that evening.....

    Hardly a diesal is it?
I never heard of a 1.4 diesel except for the newer puegoet one in the fiesta. If its a petrol you won't need a filter unless its completely necessary I.E fooked

It's a petrol and I think the filter is quite cheap and easy to replace. I've never dealt with a fuel pump though. I heard that replacing it in Escort was a 2hr job and that the part itself would cost around 300 Eur, ouch?!
Thinking about taking it to a Ford dealer - just to be safe - would it be significantly more expensive than a private garage?
