    Hi CuLT,

I was just thinking whether it might be possible to re-word the reported posts feature so that the user has to select an option from a drop-down, such as 'Spambot' or 'Porn' or simply just 'Charter Breach/Personal Abuse'.

Then, if email notifications for the site-ban offences could be sent to SMods as well, it would mean more efficient bot-killing. Maybe even if the options were just 'Whose attention does this need?' with '(a) Forum Moderator' and '(b) Super Moderator' as the answers?

Half-baked idea, I know, but it might be useful.

When I read the subject I came up with another idea .. maybe it could be done separately, maybe the same.

If a post is reported maybe the thread title could be coloured red and bolded when a mod is viewing the forum? This way they jump out at you if you're not checking email or whatever.

Yeah, it's really just so that the spambots can be culled instantly rather than for any other reason. See, SMods don't get emails about every post that's reported on the site - just those ones from their own forums.

The only way to keep track of spammers is by constantly checking the reported posts forum or the spammer notification threads. That's not as efficient as it would be were we sent an instant email notification when a spambot is reported in any forum.

Making the choice compulsory would mean that we could be almost sure we were getting all of the spambots very quickly.

The tag system should be allowed with the option of "Other" and always a little box to clarify why you think the post matches the prefix selected?

See, SMods don't get emails about every post that's reported on the site - just those ones from their own forums.

Thats a good thing tho, right? :P

The only problem I see are people misusing the system and selecting tags that have nothing to do with it at all. Probably wouldnt happen much tho.

I don't like the idea of the moderator type drop down. Might be confusing for newer users who don't really understand it that well. I think it should be as simplistic as possible for this very reason. A single drop down added to the page with just two options "spam" and "other/misc". The drop down should default to "other" so that you smods aren't getting sent emails for absolutely everything because people won't or forget to change the drop down.

It could be a good way to reduce spam. Good idea, Hulla.

Anecdotal evidence from modutils shows that even not all moderators aren't bothered to highlight spammers accurately, so I'm not sure the rest of the userbase will.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
