Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

at no point has Anderson had Gerrard in any ****ing pocket

we were the better team against Utd in Anfield last year, just as we were against them this year and the year before last.

What type of rose red tinted eyewear are you wearing? Last year at Anfield United won at a canter, scored before half time, and Liverpool barely had a chance all match. Year before, O'Shea robbed you of a draw.

For Christ sakes, give the lads some time, everybody has dips in form. Look at Xabi Alonso, first season was absolutely amazing, last couple of seasons very very dissapointing and people wanted him out for Barry, this season? Back to his best.

    Give the lads some time.

in fairness, that is a ridiculous comparrison.

joined liverpool, amazing in his first season, very good in his second season, decent in his third season, very average in his 4th season, amazing in his 5th season.

Nani, joined Utd, poor in his first season apart from a couple of decent goals. Poorer in his second season thus far.

Apart from momentary glimpses in single matches, Nani has never shown he is a top player (copyright redknapp), whereas Alonso has proven his class before his loss in form.

Honestly you are intolerable at times.

Nani has been very poor in general at United. He loses the ball way too much and is far too greedy also. Defending what he has done so far for United is just ridiculous. Its easy to have those stats at United with all the attacking prowess around him, it does not mean that he is playing well. His overall general play at United so far could be easily described as headless, greedy and lacking vision.

However I would be in the camp that believes that he is a future superstar when he gains more experience.

I do believe that the best thing United could do is to buy someone to compete with him for his position. I think that would fastrack his development as he does seem ultra competitive.

TBH you used up all your credits on judging a player when you stated Toure was on of the best centre backs in the league. Apologies if I don't engage you in this, you have no idea what your talking about as far I have seen from your nonsense posts.

we had a shed load of chances in the game at Anfield last year. the year before we were robbed of a draw & we dominated the game.most utd fans admitted this at the time, no tinted glasses with me, its Utd game plan when they play us-this year it didnt work as they made mistakes & we have a higher calibre of player than we have previous years.

Anderson bossed the midfield that day, ask most football supporters and they will agree

One bad half season, where injury has played a part, does not make Kolo Toure a bad player.

And to the post above in general, my response is good and keep it that way.

So many similarities between Nani and Ronaldo in his first few years.

He'll score a tonne of goals in a couple of seasons too, but the poor crossing will persist, similar to Ronaldo.

United should get rid of Nani, Ronaldo and the poor mans Messi - Tevez. Nani is simply braindead, Ronaldo has his eye on himself and Tevez just runs around a lot. I originally thought Tevez was good but really he is just a workhorse - i hope Argentina realise this too and drop him.

played with Sporting since 2005 incl games in the CL in 2006, surely thats top flight football?

Nani has played about 100 top flight matches with nearly 20 in Europe....and was bought for a lot of money....he is not some fresh face scamp from the academy

Do I include the Portuguese league as top flight football?

    No no I don't.

So aside from six games for Sporting in the CL, he has had one and half seasons of top flight football. Therefore I believe he has not yet been given enough time to develop and mature.

So people like Deco had no experience in top flight football until they moved to Barca?

Wat about Eusabio? never played top flight football?

ok, lets just agree to disagree.

Seriously you are bring a player from the 60-70's into it. Your really think arguing the merits of league 30-40 years later is a worth while argument.

Apart from his international appearances and European experience no Deco didn't.

I think we will just have to disagree. You consider the Portuguese league is at the top level football, I don't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

its not the best or in the top 2-3, but it is among the top leagues in Europe, yes it is. I'd rate it on a par with the dutch or french league tbh.

and to write of someone with a fair bit of experience in it as having no experience of top football & using that as an excuse for underperformance for 18mths is laughable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,399 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

The standard of the Portuguese league is easily high enough for a young player to develop their game in. Arguable as to whether they could reach their full potential in that league, but it certainly can't be discounted in the development of a player. Sure, the English, Italian and Spanish leagues would be a step up, but it is hardly reserve league level.

Almost as bad as seeing Man Utd fans support Liverpool in the CL final in 05.

Joking about the e-hugging part, not about the CL
