    the Tara towers is D4, which is at the top of Trimstown Ave
    but the german embassy is Booterstown, blackrock Co.Dublin

    why do you ask ? Post codes in Dublin are a bit of joke.
    Perhaps, An Post, do use them for sorting to local sorting offices, but
    if you dont use them, I dont think it makes much difference.

    Yes, post will arrive without a post code or with the incorrect post code - it will just take a little longer - maybe an extra day or two.

    The vast bulk of Booterstown is Co Dublin, there could be a bit of overlap though as The Cranford Centre (Beside the Montrose) would be D4 as would be the Rock road past the Tara Towers.

    The Dublin City council boundry is along that invisible line.
