New Central Heating System Problem

    Hi
We have just had a new oil fired central heating system installed at a cost of 12K however the expansion tank is continuously filling, one radiator does not heat AT ALL nor is there any heat in the pipe leading to it and all the radiators need to be bled every 2-3 days :(. The installer just keeps bleeding the rads and telling me it's fixed which it quite clearly is not.
Anybody out there have any ideas?
    Many thanks

Sounds like there is a leak in the system. Are the pipes copper? Are compression fittings used? Are the pipes accessible or buried in concrete?Any damp patches? A leaking system will quickly damage radiators.Ask your installer to pressure test the system.

    Defiantly sounds like a leak
Tie up the ball Cox in the tank if it empties then you have a leak somewhere
Check around pipe work from floors to rad’s especially timber floors might be a stray nail ?

    Hi
Thanks a million for your input - pipes are a mixture of copper and some type of flexible white piping - don't know what it is. Floors are timber and there is no sign of a leak anywhere.
I will try the 'tying up the balcock' tomorrow and let you know but would this not potentially cause more damage if it actually empties?
You're very kind for taking the time to reply am feeling a bit pressurised about the whole thing as it's so cold .
    Cheers

If, as you say, the expansion tank is continuously filling, then the water must be leaking away somewhere. The expansion tank is the small tank in the attic.I presume you have been up there and have seen it filling from the mains.Dont run the boiler with no water in the tank. Are the other rads piping hot?Is the burner running continuously?

    Hi c ashelmore,
Well the latest n the saga is that the installer came yesterday and told me that they needed to raise the expansion tank which they did. Later when I checked they had removed the ball cock from the expansion tank and all the rads were piping hot in the house, that was lunchtime yesterday and I did not check it later yesterday as I was out for the evening. This morning however when I got up the heating system was on, all the rads cold and when I checked the expansion tank (and I'm sure at this stage the whole sytem) it was dry.
Any idea what I should do with the installation people?
I am more than a little annoyed now as this has been going on for 6 weeks.
Many, many thanks for your help.
    Kind regards
