    Hmm....

We had our chance last year and the people voted them back in.

Nobody voted Brian Cowen in as Taoiseach.

If this was France we'd have a guillotine erected on the lawn of Leinster house by now

Agreed, but what can we do???

We need 20,000 people to turn up at the entrance to Leinster House every day for a month & block their entrance. Let them know we don't want them in there.

This is where our President should step(with the aid of our defence forces)and Dissolve Dail Eireann.

I tried FF, I tried FG, I tried DF and I tried the PDs. All the same.
The one that worked for me was GTFO.
South of France is lovely. ;)

Unfortunately the President is a puppet(or muppet if you prefer) she will never get off of her ass because she is quite happy to sit in the Aras and watch the city crumble because it's all expenses paid for her and it dosen't effect her

    Did you try Labour?

Anyway i agree with the OP about the government, but what can we do? I mean we don't have any good politicians, they all seem to have their own agendas and also seem to be just as bad the each other. The only thing we can do now is pray for a messiah like figure to come out of nowhere and lead us.

In our constitution it says the president is a man....but I don't see any balls on Mary.......

I'm begining to think we're going to need a forum for these kind of threads.

Something like "the impotent rage" forum (dibs on being the mod).

Or the OP and everyone who agrees with him could stop crying and get involved in politics. If all options are so horribly awful then you're going to have to do it yourselves. Change isn't going to happen just because you get really mad and type angry posts on the internets, or wish really hard for a miracle.

We need an Irish Barrack Obama!! Oh no wait he is Irish.........

I am glad that the government was voted back in, but only because I want to see them take FULL BLAME for this mess they have gotten us into. Our Celtic Tiger years was based on a property boom that history showed could never be substained. Investors drove up property prices to levels where first time buyers were priced out of the market, instead of hitting investors with higher taxes, investors were awarded tax free incentives to snatch up as may propertes as possible. When companies which are making huge profits decide to move manufacturing abroad then you know the sh!t has hit. The worst is yet to come!!!

Oh, I'm sorry. Here was I thinking the internet was for the free exchange of information and opinion. Well by all means, get your own forum where you can preside over it as some sort of facist dictator. As for the rest of us, we'll 'cry' here for the moment. If it bothers you that much, by all means... clickety.

    Ohh, godwin'd.
And alot earlier than i'd expected.

People have been complaining since well before the budget, don't you think the time for bleating about how bad the gubberment is kinda done?
You've had your cry time, now either try and enact some goddamn change or just wait and hope someone else will do it.

Did Terry not sort all this Government stuff out a few weeks ago?

So how do we get a general election???

Why? None of the other parties (bar SF maybe but by christ we dotn want them in charge) will want to take over at the minute. This is a global recession that isnt going away. The opposition will want to sit tight where they are for the time being, bemoan every single thign the government do whether it's good, bad or indifferent and see how this year pans out . Then maybe push for a GE next year if it looks liek things could be about to turn around so they can catch the updraft and take the credit, while sayign that if we had elected them earlier we could have been out of all this much sooner.

I have no political asperations. But I have excercised my right to vote, and now I'm excercising my right to talk about whatever the hell I like. Whether it causes you consternation or not, that's up to you. But I will bitch, cry, moan or whatever other condescending word you want to use about this or any other government.

Didn't someone mention here that there is a perfectly legal way to remove the government right now, through some nationwide petition?

    Online petition? They always work.

    So is Ryanair.

Although they do have good ads so he may put together some good Government propaganda.

Our current government is providing a ryanair-esque service yet charging premium prices to fund it. It's an absolute sham.

the president has the power and so do the people, all that's called for is an uprising.....or online petition:)

trouble is what happens then, what happens to social order....

I think we should elect a King and Queen of boards.ie and let them run the country anythings worth a shot at this stage....
