Two motorway lanes merging into one by means of cones being used by maintenance workers. If everyone just pulled into the left lane well in advance speed might drop from 70mph to 40mph (ok Kmh equivalent...) But oh no some gobsh1te has to fly down the right hand lane until the very last minute -and then another (in fact in our negative driving country you usually have no choice but to 'join in ')Next thing ya know theres a 2 mile tailback moving at walking pace ....
Doesnt that just drive you mad!?

What drives me mad is the good samaratin who lets all these people in when they've blatantly driven up the hard shoulder, or along the bit of road that's being closed off.

But the road has not come to an end yet. It tells you there are 400,300,200,100mtrs left so why should people all pile into the left lane?

True. If everyone goes into the left lane too early it causes a long tailback.

The exception would be when someone clearly travels on the right lane faster than the flow of traffic.
