lol....from what I could make of your post, here's my reply:

No, the forms I can handle and I would expect them in my home country as well, but them assuming that my no claim bonus from my previous insurance company was a fake just because I am a foreigner and making such trouble out of it that I just had to give it up, or getting a credit limit on a credit card that was 25% of what an Irish person applying for the first credit card gets, that I do consider discrimination.

But like I said, the Irish aren't that racist, but there are ignorant pricks everywhere, here's no exception.

The credit institutions are like that with anybody who hasn't been here a few years, no matter where you've come from. It's the same in the UK and probably everywhere else.

When I arrived from the UK 20 years ago, I had to get one of my cousins to act as guarantor so that I could borrow £300 for a washing machine. They must have thought that I was going to run out of the country with the washing machine and not pay off the loan.

    I don't need a guarantor any more.

    jesus, don't let him procreate!
whether you subscribe to nurture or nature theories, either viewpoint would suggest that that segregationist shouldn't be allowed to raise a family....

Will someone please tell me how any argument that would suggest that we encourage our immigrants to go home can be resolved with a reciprocal argument that could be made for:
    1) the english to send back to Ireland the 850,000+ people in Britain who were born in Ireland (2001 UK census)
    2) the US to send back some of 36,495,800 Irish Americans who claim ancestry originating in Ireland. (US Census Office 2007) (yes thats 36 million.... 156,000 legal immigrants in 2001 Census, illegals don't show up on census...)
    3) the estimated 3 million Irish passport holders not living in Ireland, to leave if the country they have settled in is experiencing a recession....

If you accept if from an irish perspective you must expect and accept it from other perspective...

The greed, egocentrisim, and lack of foresight and self-critical awareness, that characterised much thinking during the boom years is taking a new form..

If Ireland wasn't in the EU the only difference between us and Iceland would be 1 letter and 6 months... (This is a common joke going round europe a few weeks back, I had it told to me by swedes, germans and french people... but they don't prefix it with "if Ireland wasn't in the EU" they just say... what's the difference between Ireland and Iceland.. Irland/Island.. Irlande/Islande? 1 letter and about 6 months )
We are and will be doing business with the poles...don't f*ck it up by insulting them..
smart industrious people will try to change things or go where the opportunities are... the lazy whingers will stay where they are and moan about it and try to blame others for their woes..
some of the more articulate ones will try to provoke the more impressionable ones to get political about it. Which is what a democracy is all about but encouraging mob mentality and pandering to base populism got us into this mess. It won't get us out of it.

Can't believe there are so many PDs still out there. The free market ended last sept when the gov bailed out the banks. That should go for the free movement of labour as well. With unemployment going up by 71% last year, why do we want more immigrants? To increase our dole queue. Big business has benefited by using foreign labour. They should have to pay extra for every foreign worker they employ. The EU is doing its best to become the USSR.

The USSR had full employment and didn't care where the workforce came from. Sounds fair.

Ah but the beauty of the free market is there are very few coming here now. Also means we can emigrate without restrictions to the EU.

That's correct. I do want Ireland to still be an ethnically Irish country in a hundred years from now. Does that make me a racialist in your opinion?
Ireland is too small to be ethnically Irish country. Indeed Ireland would become what it was hundreds of years ago, a poor country where people are starving..

Any population which relies on a small genepool grows weak and vulnerable to genetic disfunction, it's no coincidence we have high incidences of certain diseases and conditions. The Irish have always benefitted from new blood. If anyone was watching the "Blood of the Irish" on RTE they would have seen that we are a mix of many races.

I was watching Blood of the Irish last night and it confirmed what I've been saying all along. The evidence does show that most Irish people are the descendants of Ireland's first settlers. Contrary to the PC myth, the Irish are not "a mix of many races" and we're not all the descendants of previous waves of immigrants who came here in the last 2,000 years. Our history on this island goes back at least 10,000 years.

It doesn't make any difference to me anyway what race people are or where there ancestors come from. In our case though I think it's fair to say that we have a very long history on this island.

By the way, as a Donegal fella, there's a good chance you're a direct descendant of Niall of the Nine Hostages.

Viewing what i've since missed in this thread I can't help but realise how many self righteous b*st*rds there really are here.
-When times were better how many people, particularly in the trades industry, lost thier jobs because a Polish person was willing to do it for less? As I said previously this was more affordable to them because, among other things, of spending thier wages on home produce, bringing in illegal cigerattes by the tonne, etc. The list goes on. Of course we have to allow immigrant workers but there are limits and rules to be followed, then we have had to rely on our FF government to enforce these though...
-How would you feel when your neighbourhood is destroyed by the heaps of rubbish left behind by travellers or if your house was broken into?
-How do you feel about your taxes also paying, among people who are genuinely in need, people who exploit the social welfare system and are unwilling the work? Or the people who come to the country for the single purpose of claiming the benifits?

Fair points. The Irish did indeed over price ourselves in the trades industry.

As for the travellers, I don't tar a whole community on the actions of a few.

As for welfare, if you know of cases like that, report them.

Doesn’t it? In that case, perhaps you could answer the direct questions that have been asked of you which pertain to the subject of ancestors/descendents?

    Complete and utter rubbish......

Where is the evidence?, the study of DNA is a hobby of mine, and the Irish are no more inter related than any other Europeans.
(and a lot less than many others, the European Jewish population is very closely related for instance)

It may interest you to know that the average Chinese person is much more closely related, with another Chinese person, than the average Irish person is with another Irish person.

    I don't know, how many?

I had my kitchen done up about a year ago and I had serious difficulty getting hold of tradesmen. Most of the work I had done cost me an absolute fortune - I spent more on labour than I did on materials, even though I ended up doing a fair chunk of the work myself. A lot of the work I did pay for was not what I would describe as satisfactory. I've since had problems with the flooring, electrics and plumbing. If you ask me, a bit of competition for tradesmen in this country is long overdue.

Sure who cares, we all came out of Africa. Mapping race is all dependent on how far back in history you want to go to suit yourself.

Well actually, according to episode 'one' the east coast of Ireland is about as Irish as Mahatma Ghandi's left nipple, as wave after wave of newcomers have left their genetic markers over millenia ~ even Diarmuid Gavin discovered that his ancestors hail from the East of England & central Europe (the Alps) before that . . .

The Irish are a mix of several races Viknigs/Anglo Normans/Britons being high on the list, and I was surprised to learn that although there has been human activity on Britain for 700.000 years, there have only been Humans in Ireland for 10.000 years (max)! and we still didnt get a categoricle answer to where thay came from (probably the Basque region of Spain via Britain) :)) The west of Ireland has a high proportion of the Basque genetic marker.

Again, a complete load of rubbish.
While the genetic marker mentioned , (Haplogroup:R1b1c) is extremely common in the west, it is also very very common on the east coast, by far the most common one.

Well if we use the "facts" arrived at in the program, the only true Irish are us in the west.
I have always said our civilisation hadn't changed much, just imagine there might have been hundreds of Beverly Flynns running around the place 8,000 odd years ago grabbing the odd few stone axes or the odd carnóg or two ;)

Now using O'Morris own theory of Irish purity, if he doesn't hail from the Western part of Ireland he can leave also, since he is not true Irish like us over in the West. Let's have a DNA test done and that will be the end of it.

PS he can't have the women either since we wouldn't want his blow in genes infected our racial purity. :D

I am not allowed discuss …
