MY fav lens, me baby for Street and Portraits , I don't do digital but the only lens that matches this is on my Minolta Autocord TLR for sharpness.... not for apeture!

They were orphaned. Their mother was run over by a car and we found the kittens three days later under a bush... really sad :(

LOL, no. I think it was just feeling a bit sorry for itself.

We still have the kittens, they're really cute.

    A couple more.

Linking two threads, here is a 50mm picture taken by a 50mm using a light tent as recommended by ThOnda which I bought today. Just need to work on an effective light source and the WB

A full page of great photos taken with a 50mm F/1.8.

    http://www.glasseyalley.com/index.php?x=browse&category=13

Also, as this very helpful link proves, a lens is only good value if you use it well.
One person who had just bought a 50mm posted on my blog that they were finding it hard to get in on all the knacks and angles that make for good photos.

Is is mainly used in manual setting and not easy to use in AF?

I, lacking the convenience of EXIF, can never for the life of me remember what I shot with after a while. Here are a few that I've either tagged, or shot recently enough that I remember ...

    50mm AIS f/1.8 Nikon.
    3147153815_87b7f97333.jpg

The 50mm on my Bronica SQAI. Well, no-one said what format !
    2558201340_2a8de50fe8.jpg

AIS above inverted (or possibly just with an extension tube) for macro ...
    537181873_be9f9dc67b.jpg

Just got myself an AFD f/1.4 but not really comfortable with it yet ... that newfangled "autofocus" I think Nikon calls it. Not to worry, canonites, I'm sure canon will have something similar soon !

I would be pleased to know where you got it.
The shops have quite steep prices for Canon and I think I'll buy online.

Is eBay the best place to get this for a good price or are there any other stores offering it cheaper than £60 or so?

    My 3 old 50mm primes: Oympus F1.8, Pentax F1.7, Centon F1.7.

See other pics in Pix.ie for difference in the 3, Centon is very soft at max aperture, hardly usable.

These were taken with Pentax & Olympus:

    Hmmm....

Will have to look at digging out a shot or two myself as I haven't seen any shots with the Sony 50mm F1.4 here...

Will try to remember to do that tonight...

Hi Borderfox, not spot metered, I was using manual settings at the time.

In February issue of Popular Photography, there is a large article about 50mm primes. Well, at least we are faster and brighter :)
