We have been on the hunt for a cat for the last week and we got an unexpected phone call tonight that a nice rescue cat is available for us to pick up tomorrow between 12 & 1.

This has gone quicker than expected and we are a bit unprepared.

We urgently need to buy some items. Planning to go to Petstop in Blanchardstown, for bedding, scratchers etc. Problem is that it doesn't open till 12.

Woodies is open till 10 and I'm just wondering does anyone know if they sell pet carriers there to enable is to collect our new cat.

If anyone knows of any other good petstore in Dublin/Bray area that is open tomorrow before 12 I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,

im not in the dub are so i cant help you in the pet shop issue, but if you can get someone to travel with you im sure you could wrap kitty in a towel (letting her head out) for the journey, somtimes the rescue people will have cardboard carriers that you could put her in. tesco will have lots of things like dishes, littertrays, litter and small toys etc. best of luck!

You could check with the rescue to see if they sell carriers - the rescue we got our cat from sold them for a tenner so we just got one there. Alternatively is there anyone you know that has a cat that you could borrow a carrier from for a few hours?
Btw, you can get litter, food, etc from the likes of Tesco if you can't make the pet store. You can use an old blanket or pillow for bedding and a sisal mat works perfectly as a make-shift scratcher - our cat loves our sisal/wicker laundry basket more than any of her "real" scratching posts :)

Edit: Argos do a Cat Starter Kit for 40euro - doesn't look like it would last forever but it would probably do for a while.

Thanks, that Argos item is exactly what we're looking for.
Problem was that we needed a carrier and couldn't check with vet if they had one as they are only open at 12 tomorrow and we have to be there by then.

So that Argos item will tide us over perfectly and they're open at 10 tomorrow. Perfect. Thanks for your help.

Link below is a picture of the cat we are getting.....a real beaut I think!
