I am using eircom 3mb and i am getting a ping of 300+. From Fed 07 until Dec
07 i had the 2mb line and it was grand no ping issue. The line was disconnected
as i moved out. Now i have just moved back to the same house and I got the
line reconnected. I am using the same equipment as I did back in 07. I even tried the new router but no joy. I did a tracert and this is what i got....

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>tracert -h 10 www.bbc.co.uk

    Tracing route to www.bbc.net.uk [212.58.251.197]
over a maximum of 10 hops:

    1 3 ms 2 ms 5 ms 192.168.1.254
    2 55 ms 142 ms 115 ms b-ras1.wtd.waterford.eircom.net [159.134.155.9]

    8 * * * Request timed out.
    9 * * * Request timed out.

    Trace complete.

is there anyone else getting this.
I haven't called ericom as they are closed. but I will call on Monday.

The exact same server "86.43.242.70" is giving us both problems, mines been like this for the past 2-3 months

Edit: The server is somewhere in Dublin AFAIK
Iv rang them about it and never heard back from them, its really infuriating as all my gaming servers are located in germany.

Before this i used to get 40ms pings without problems

    sh~!t 2-3 months!!
so you called eircom and they didnt do a thing about it.
they advertise on their web site that the 3mb is for gamers. but they are
routing us all over the place and giving us high pings.
they will be getting off me tomorrow!!!

I've been getting absolutely awful speeds the last week or so and playing games on Xbox Live has been nearly impossible. I have the 7MB package from Eircom and am on the Waterford City exchange.

A speedtest I just ran a few minutes ago:

    391818304.png

It's ridiculous. Surely it's no coincidence we're all on the Waterford exchange.

sorry to but in but how many exchanges are there, does it depend where you are what exchange you are on? thanks

Marco - the issue in Waterford was sorted out a few weeks ago so the thread you just re-opened was already closed.

There are over 1100 exchanges across Ireland, so yes it does absolutely depend on where you live.
