Chat rooms are, to my mind, the equivalent of being back in primary school. The same social forms of interaction, the same meaningless squabbles.

I put my energy into photography and getting through the day without falling over the furniture, virtually and in reality.

I would not dream of joining an unmoderated forum.

The moderators here give their time and expertise, for which I am very appreciative.

    Sometimes misunderstandings arise.

    That is the human condition.

I have had many steep learning curves on my way to computer literacy. It's worth thinking about personality types and gender before rushing in for the fray.

This thread is useful because people share insight, for the enlightment of all.

Wait, Calina is gone? I know I'm joining this late, but that is such BS. It's really not fair to put someone under that kind of pressure, people attach a great deal of importance to what is said here (I should know - I've just been grossly offended by comments in the Music Production forum).

Anyways, I'm here to offer my 0.2 cents. The Photo mods, Calina included, deal with a huge amount of traffic and are faced with the difficult task of providing accurate information to beginners while still keeping old hands interested. And that's not easy! Calina banned me for one week for bantering with another regular user. Was I happy about it? No. Did I deserve it? Hell yes! It wasn't contributing anything useful to a thread that was started by a beginner.

I suppose that's what it's all about. I've said it before in Feedback, the Photography Forum is an amazing resource that I freely avail of. There are times when I'd like to see the Mods ease-up, but you can't have it every way. This may sound very socialist, but Mods really have to act for the 'greater good'.

Thankfully Paul, at many peoples request Calina has indeed reconsidered and is staying firmly in place on the photography forum. I think your assessment of being banned in this case by Calina is as fair and impartial as could be stated and your honesty is welcomed. I don't speak for her but I think it will mean a lot to Calina when she reads it too.
