I'd like to get a digital camera, one that's extremely easy to use and wont break the bank.

Anyone got any recommendations on what one to go for and for any offers that are available.

have a look here and look at different options. -edit - just change the "popluarity" to price

I got the Canon 980IS here - 260e to me or could have bought in shops for 399e.

You can't go wrong with Canon. The compact ixus range are very easy to use (they all have auto settings so its just point and click). Quality is exceptional but you pay a little extra as its such a good brand.

Anything from 7 mega pixel is good. Once you go above 9 mp its a bit pointless unless you go for a big SLR.

Things to think about are
1) You'll need to buy a memory card (2 GB would be a minimum nowadays)
2) Some take AA batterys so if you use a lot, you may want to consider rechargables. Or ebay have 3rd party ones if not AA style.
3) What type of zoom? 3x is fairly standard but you can get better

That first one the The Canon Powershot A470 is a good buy according to "Which" it

For that price (65 euro) it seems a good buy.

Do not buy a camera from Argos - can only end in disaster! If you're familiar with cameras, then Pixmania have good prices (but don't go for their bundle deals, bit of a rip-off). If you need good advice, don't have a clue what you're doing, then you're best going to a shop - check prices but also, make sure they can show you how to use it!
