Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm not sure if anyone has come across this as I only discovered it yesterday, but it's playing some really good house music and has been going more or less non-stop since last night with no ad or DJ interruptions. I think I heard Play FM at one stage but couldn't be sure. It's crystal clear out in Sandyford so I'm not sure how good it would be around the rest of Dublin.

Yep I heard it. Its like just a big massive mix. With little to no interuption. The odd, your listening to.... Great station. Hope its legal and stays round. Thats all I listen to in the car now

As it says on the website www.playfmdublin.com/, "No chart, no trance and definitely no hard dance". Hope it's here to stay, as it's quality.

Its not bad but Ive one gripe, like its great it doesnt play any chart music and commercial tunes, but Id rather it be ''no chart,no ads and no hard house'',the music it plays is real slow soulful house music, and fair play to whoever's into that but what about abit of oldskool(non-overplayed cheesey kind),classic house, hard trance, progressive house, etc, like your only focussing on one group, people that listen to soulful house,it wont last long if thats the case

I dunno, I was listening to some decent progressive yesterday lunch time and again this morning before 7am. Fair enough it's not entirely one type but I like how they're mixing it up. Haven't had a chance to hear it at night yet but should do so tomorrow.

I don't think it focuses on one type tbh. Have a listen some more. But I did hear the House but I'm pretty sure there was different types a different time

****ing savage station, been going for about 9+ months now. some ridiculously good dj's on there and even better shows. its all i listen to in the car (apart from off the ball), regardless of genre. no news, no recession. if only it was legal. even the missus listens to it sometimes and she'd be more david bowie then dave clarke.

seeing as your all newcomers, some of the best shows imo are:

jay cisco, karl lambert, phuture phunk, dave perkins, paul and jay monaghan and the two best shows are saturday night frank kearney and stuey crea.

my mate went to a drug councillor before (dont ask) and he told him to stop listening to the station.

It is indeed, the higher ups will never legalise a dance music station,no money be made in it,and I know Paul Monaghan, auld neighbour of mine, plays the techno and tech-house stuff

    Must give it a listen...

Is there any particular style or is it all things Dance ?

no trance, no hard house, no hard dance, no ads, no news.

mainly tech house, progressive house and house. then some sub genres of each of them and topped off with some techno and on sundays its chillout at times.

tis the best station going since nova imo

Yup. This radio station being a fine example of what I said in that thread. Thanks but no thanks...

i've heard this a few times in the car. lovely shtuff.

even though I occasionally work for the state broadcaster (engineering and whatnot -classical music mostly), I wholeheartedly support pirate stations. Most of the time that I tune in to pirates on the radio it's not exactly my cup of tea but it's still enjoyable.

As far as the legalities go, if there was one strong pirate station going with a big enough listenership, there is a good chance of a licence being granted. It is a very long drawn out process but it is possible (look at phantom. a former pirate that specialises in terrible indie music).

Personally, I like the whole ethic of pirate stations, so wouldn't be too bothered about a legal station on the airwaves.

Does anyone know any of the Dj's? I'd love to get my hands on tracklists for the sets before and around 9am as they're class but I don't know who played them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,744 ✭✭✭Táck

i dont know them personally but if you put a post up on dmi (dancemusicireland.com) and request it, some of them do be on there. in fact, a good few.

do a search for semtech. he'd be the man to talk to.

I heard one of the lads who has already played a couple of times on the station was kicked off because his Dublin accent was too strong!! :D
He was part of a double act with Dave Perkins and was supposed to be playing with Dave as part of a double act. This caused a bit of a rift between the 2 mates coz Dave kept the slot and went solo whereas the mate thought he should have stood by him.

    OHHH the scandal!!!!!

well if they were a duet, i guess maybe he should. or else he could do an eminem and go back and get him when they make it bigtime. there isnt enough strong dublin accents on dublin radio

Aint no happy hardcore on Rythem my friend, mostly classics, oldskool and new tunes mainly electo and progressive, the odd cheesey classic now and again but sure thats allowed, better then that snoozefest thats 93.2,20 mins a time of emotionless tech house

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,744 ✭✭✭Táck

different strokes for diffent folks. you can snooze to tech house whiles i'll snooze to classics that were even ****e back in the day and the so called cheesey tunes

Aha, genres fights again... good aul boards :D

Must check out 93.2 so after all the praise. I never actually listen to the radio in the car or at home, always so many CD's etc that I want to listen to and the radio has tended to be sh*te so never bother with it.
