Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just looking through the shots saved stats.

    Arsenal (Almunia) 21-59
    22
    Aston Villa (Friedel) 21-68
    23
    Blackburn (Robinson/Brown) 21-51
    33
    Bolton (Jaaskelainen) 21-72
    29
    Chelsea (Cech/Cudicini) 21-48
    12
    Everton (Howard) 21-61
    25
    Fulham (Schwarzer) 19-60
    14
    Hull (Myhill) 21-58
    39
    Liverpool (Reina) 21-44
    13
    Man City (Hart/Schmeichel) 20-61
    29
    Man Utd (VDS/Kuszczak) 19-43
    09
    Middlesboro (Turnbull/Jones) 21-87
    29
    Newcatle (Given) 21-76
    34
    Portsmouth (james) 20-65
    33
    Stoke (Sorensen/Simonsen) 21-71
    28
    Sunderland (Fulop/Gordon) 21-64
    30
    Spurs (Gomes) 21-79
    26
    West Brom (Carson) 21-97
    37
    West Ham (Green) 21-78
    30
    Wigan (Kirkland) 20-46
    20

Reina fewest thus far of those with 21 played, VDS fewest with 19. Poor old Carson must be punch drunk.

Shots conceeded the winner is VDS, I'll let someone else work put the %s :)

what does the third number mean? i presume the first two are games played and saves made...

    edit: seems to goals conceded...

    Wigan/Kirkland have surprisingly low numbers

How exactly does this prove why certain goalkeepers "have it easy" compared to others?

Kirkland and his defence are stars, fewer goals and shots on goal conceeded than Arsenal! Now if they had a prolific striker...

An File would you prefer to be Carson or Kirkland? Its about the defence (from the front to the back)

poor defences can make goalies look poor, not stats

Poor defences usually make any decent keepers look better.

i think thats the point, carson has made to make more than twice as many saves as reina because liverpool's defence is better.

OP by the way man city have only played 20 not 21, wigan have played 20 not 19

Ususually believe in stats but not when it comes to goalkeepers. Whose to say Reina's each of 44 SOT's were easier / equally as easy to deal as each of Carsons 97? By the very nature of Liverpool having a better defence than West Brom the kinda stuff that is going to get on target against Liverpool is probably going to be more challenging to save than most of the stuff Carson will have to deal with.

It's gets back to the whole Shay Given thing of him being a world class goalkeeper becuase he makes a lot of saves. I'd rate higher the goalie who had one save to make in a match (and made it) rather than the fella who makes 8 saves but still lets two in. Equally just because the guy has one save to make in 90 mins doesn't exactly make his job any easier.
