well i would find it impossible to do a move such as high jump ex Hurricane Kick[Ken] across the screen with those mad cat pads. Thats just me then...

Woah:eek: you using a 360 pad or something? I'd understand then. Thats basic stuff other wise , can't see any issue doing that with any other pads, its just basic down up+forward-down back 2x kicks. Could even do that with a keyboard

I do find moves like the SPD etc really hard. Or a really good example would be charge characters supers in games like alpha 3. Hold back, then forward back forward punch etc. Never been able to pull those off on a pad.

Any of you guys play on GGPO either ST or 3S. I'd be up for a few games if you want, have not used 2df.

I use ggpo AND 2df, but I just ended up sticking to 2df as all I mainly play is 3s and 2df's is better for 3s imo (on GGPO I'd get lines through my screen or sometimes KO would appear on the screen when both of us were still fighting) Theres also more 3s player on 2df.

Plus I love the replay system on 2df.

il go on GGPO tonight as 'anti-girl', have not played in a while.
Not too familiar with 2DF's interface, seems a bit awkward.

Have you used it recenly? I don't find it any different from GGPO tbh

Play.com have the Madcatz sticks, but no sign of the pads. Amazon.co.uk have the pads but afaik they don't deliver electronic goods to Ireland.

I don't think play ship electronics to Ireland either. I remember trying to buy a joystick (flightsims) from them and it wouldnt let me.

What are the chances of these pads/stick even being available in shops over here when they come out?

I have been lead to believe that ggpo has less lag than 2df?

I just got 2df working so I'll try it out now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,748 ✭✭✭Cunny-Funt

GGPO deffo has a better net code but 2df works fine.

Gamestop normally get some of those types of limited edition controllers in, give them a call, in fact try Game as well, just don't be surprised at the premium price, given the specialist nature of the controller

Are any irish shops gettin those arcade sticks in ?

I played on GGPO last night, i never have a great experience,
    -black lines
-KO appearing before game ends + other strange sync issues
-Atleast with MAME, you feel the lag, on GGPO somehow it seems the lags is being hidden and some other sort of emulation mechanic comes into place, just doesnt feel right,

    gonna hit 2dF soon.

Cunny-Funt : im assuming alot will be using the general xbox pad, also EX moves would be hard ! Some advances play tactics would also seem impossible, storing lighting kick with chunli/ UOH to lightning kick etc etc.
    Also red parries :S

ah yeah deffo try 2df man if you've not. Its P2P, its not like MAME at all. No where near as laggy.

And yeah most people I know who do play SF and on a 360 use the little joystick instead of the d-pad, its that useless.

So obviously anything is better then the 360 pad. Thats another reason why these madcatz pads might sell out fast, so many 360 people waiting for a decent pads as theres few 3rd party 360 pads out there.

I hope at least one shop gets the TE sticks in. It's gonna be so hard to get them online plus the prices will be sky high with shipping etc. :(:(:(

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

Play have the controllers listed now, gonna try and order and see what they say. Play-asia also have them btw and I've never had any issue with them shipping electronics to Ireland.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,889 ✭✭✭evad_lhorg

I hope play.com will be getting the sticks in. they only have the pads at the moment.

Order one. It's listed under "games" and not "electronics" so play.com will deliver it to Ireland, in my experience.

€45 Euro for the fightpad though? Amazon.co.uk are selling them for £25 (but don't deliver to Ireland). Has anyone reviewed the pad yet?

Play.com are ridiculous. They're charging €90 for the PS3 collectors edition game. I know they like to mark up a few euros but bloody hell thats an extra €20-25 on top of what it should be.
    http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=XT1441&title=street_fighter_iv_collectors_edition - Xbox360 version

    http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=PX0437&title=street_fighter_iv_collectors_edition - Playstation 3 version

    + £2.95 shipping = £62.94 = €69.76

saving of €20 on play.com price.

i'll buy the pads i think as i grew up playing SF on a megadrive pad so they'll bring the closer experience back of that. I know sticks are better but I ain't forking out that much money for something i'm not going to play professionally lol.

Do they sell the pads? I'm only interested in the pads on their own as I'm waiting for the PC version.

But I want the pads asap!

  • Registered Users Posts: 26,579 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

nope :( don't think they are selling the pads at all as they would have them for pre-order by now along with street fighter IV

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 66 ✭✭Uthred

Does anyone know if the sticks will be available from Irish retailers, e.g. Gamestop, Smyths ? As it would certainly save on the shipping for the tournament edition one (which is a tad heavy)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,748 ✭✭✭Cunny-Funt

Nobody seems to know, but I'm sorry to say m8, from reading around forums the past 2 days...is that the tournament edition stick might already be sold out by now.

Now don't hold me to this as I'm only interested in the pads so I was not specifically looking for details on the sticks but I came across the odd post indicating the TE sticks are all out of stock everywhere and just from pre-orders as well.

I dunno what the story is about them, and if theres any more coming out but some of the lads behind making them have been hinting that very few have been made.

Yeah after reading Shoryuken I have the fear that I wont be getting one ;) I pre-ordered one on Amazon.co.uk along with one of the pads so hopefully that will come through.

sure irish shops had pads when xbox sfac annivarsary got released.

I checked around some of the game shops in Limerick only to be met with the usual "shugging of shoulders" and "I didn't hear there were controllers for the game".

    From 12.Jan.2009:
MadCatz, Inc. is leading the way in what will be a milestone in Fighting Game History with the Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition Arcade FightStick. Be sure you’re a part of it. If you haven’t pre-ordered one already, chances are you WON’T be getting one. Play-Asia is among your last, if not only, place left to pre-order your own. Follow the link to check out the Street Fighter IV line of products that will be available.
    PLAY-ASIA -STREET FIGHTER IV PRODUCTS

Sorry guys, should've shown up earlier to clear some of this up (been following it since the leaks). IIRC, markman said the TE is limited to 3'000 worldwide.

All hope is not lost, however: the regular edition stick is completely user-moddable (and pretty good stock).
Or you can always make/order a custom job ;)

What about the pads though? Do you know if they only made a limited amount of those?

Even if they did, they should be more readily sourced than the TE (I'm guessing rarity will be closer to the SF 15th Anniversary pads by Nyko(?), which I still saw a good 2-3 years after they came out).

What I really wanna know is if anyone stocks the regular FightStick...

I know its slightly tangential but I was wondering has anyone found anywhere in Ireland that has a decent price for printing custom stick art?

Asked in 2 Game's and a gamestop today. Was looking to see if they would be stocking the pads, in 2 of the stores they went off and got a madcatz arcade controller, none could say whether they would be in stock.

Ordered off play after reading the reviews!

Know you're looking for a place in Ireland to buy controllers. Can't help you there but the best price for the fightpad at the moment seems to be the preorder price at shopto.net. Order in sterling for £31.49, delivered (delivery is £3.50 because they dust the parcel in a fine layer of gold). [Link]

They will notify you if the price then changes prior to release.

CDWOW are still taking orders for the vanilla Fightstick controller: [Link]

£73 isn't the lowest price but if you can't get it elsewhere...

    Don't talk crazy :). They're currently €78 (Xbox 360) and €91 (PS3) on play.com.

Standard edition is not going to be that expensive in Irish bricks and mortar stores, Shirley!

EDIT: but to answer your question, I've ordered the regular edition for PC from Asda, online, for £17.91. [Link]

If you order from Play.com in Sterling it works out at around €65 for the Xbox CE.

Also your order from Asda is for the PC version which definatly is not out in Feb. Release date hasn't been announced.
