Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

has been a while since i asked for any c&c on here so i thought no time like the present.

went out the other evening to kilcoole beach/train station to try and get some decent night shots.
overall i'm fairly happy with what i got, but would still like some c&c to see where i can improve on them.

I like these, especially no. 4. None of them really has much in the way of a focal point, but no. 4 makes up for this with its fantastic shadows.

Pictures 1 and 2 have quite an orange cast from the street lights. You could adjust the white balance, but I'd personally convert these to black and white too.

All 4 are quite noisy. I presume you used a tripod. I'd have gone for lower iso and a longer shutter speed, and a narrower aperture in the 3rd one.

    Hi

As a set their quite good but No4 dose stand out as the best you seem to have nailed the BW conversion and used the great shadows from the railings.

Has good composition but no real point of interest. These type of shots do need something extra even just someone walking away in the distance.

    no2
Well this one seems just to be a demonstration of DOF nothing more there is nothing interesting about it sorry.

I like this one. it's simple and clean but could b very much improved with some point of interest such as again a person on the beach.

As I said good set and bu the looks of it a good nights shooting.

    look forward to seeing more.

thanks, yeah 4 would have been my favourite of the lot.
i know what you mean about the points of interest sebzy, i would have liked to have something more in them, but the beach was deserted, it's a bit out of the way. Will definately go back sometime.

@ Mr.Grieves, i agree with you about the noise, i forgot to check the ISO on my camera and it was set to 800 for some reason and i didn't realise 'til i was home.

I did a quick BW conversion of the first one and i think it looks a bit better.
