Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Jackdaw, from the tone of your last few posts regarding the 5DMKII and the lack of pics posted recently, it sounds very much like you are afraid to use your new camera. This is a shame as you waited so long (and so publicly) for it to arrive :p

    you shoulda bought a Nikon.

Funnily enough, one of my friends has a D700 and one of his only gripes is that the CF compartment door doesn't feel as secure as the one on the D300 or D3! You can't win;)

Any of the consumer Canon cameras the CF door is a bit flimsy but in practice I had never had any problems with 20/30/40/5d and mine have been opened and closed thousand's of times.

    Dont think, Just shoot

funnily enough I am really enjoying it ... this was just a small thing i noticed ...
after sorting out my dust issues (about 5 cleans!) i have no qualms with it at all .. in fact i took some great shots with my 70-200 IS f2.8 L ...

I havent posted cos I have limited access to net now in my new job ...

and no net at home for now :(

Get yourself one of the mobile BB things?

Flimsy? I don't understand that. It's a camera, not a baseball bat. You're not going to be whacking it off things....

Seriously. Stop creating threads about anything that could possibly go wrong or be wrong with your new camera, put in a CF card, put on a lens, take off the lens cap, and go shoot some pictures already. Jeez! :pac:

Agree with cm, I've tried to instill this into jakesw via pm.....I am
scared to put one leg in front of the other incase one snaps off.

Buy a big ass memory card and you will never have to open the CF door again :)

And download from the USB cable... :)

In fairness, it was the second thing I have noticed on my 5D. Fells moving in my palm. And after eight years with solid camera I am noticing it everytime.

I haven't read the specs but is that camera weather proofed? Because if it was I would be surprised if the CF door was that flimsy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,263 ✭✭✭✭Borderfox

Not weatherproofed, so dont even try that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Calina

    that does surprise me.

    anyway I wasn't going to...

    Here too!

Theres threads on POTN about creaky CF's doors on the 5d as well

Are people poking holes or what...

Jackdaw, whats it like say, compared to a 40D's CF door...

Pretty much the same as the **D series and the previous model tbh.

    Tis grand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,299 ✭✭✭PixelTrawler

Thats grand then. Just gave my 40D's door a good squeeze there - good and sturdy!
