The 5445 with 730hours - You will have little change out of €30000 for it. For €10k more you could have a brand new one. I'd borrow the extra €10k to fund this and put it against my tax which would make a new tractor cheaper to buy over 5 years and still have a good resale value.

I agree - buy new if you can but I suspect a '09 5445 will cost a lot more than 10k extra - more like 20 and maybe 25k extra, the last time I checked the new prices was at the ploughing championships and they were frighteningly scary then.

I got quoted €42000 for one from my local dealer in a straight deal last October - but it was only 90hp and wasn't enough for me. And the bloody cab in it was tiny as well and it came with the narrow wheels and it needs a service every 400 hours. I ordered a 98hp NH for the same money instead.

Sadly, I didn't get it yet. Its supposed to be with me before the end of the month. I'm getting itchy feet waiting for it :)

Sold the MF 165 yesterday. Got €4500 from the dealer that I bought it from in the first place. He recons he can sell it on and still have a few quid for himself too. I had very little interest in it over the last 3 months - I had it well advertised, but no matter what price I put on it, I had no bites. (I had it on the Buy and sell for much less than €4500)

Anyway, onwards and upwards with the NH- I know 2 other people that have ordered similar tractors - dealer has told us that they will all come in on the one ship.

I thought the MF 5445 was a bit stronger than that. According to the website its more like:
Engine Performance MF 5425▲ MF 5435▲ MF 5445▲ MF 5455▲
    Max. hp @ 2000 rpm ✪ ISO hp (kW) 86 (63.3) 96 (70.7) 100 (73.6) 112 (82.4)
    Rated hp @ 2200 rpm ✪ ISO hp (kW) 82 (60.4) 92 (67.7) 95 (69.9) 105 (77.3)
    Max. hp in transport - - 110 (81) 125 (92)
    Max. torque @ 1400 rpm ✪ Nm 379 405 420 463
    Max. torque with boost @ 1400 rpm ✪ Nm - - 463 525

It'd be €27000 even at todays rate, give it a couple of weeks and youd be closer to €25000 and i think thats a bargin for a 4 yr old. A mate got €19000 for a 1993 390 last summer and there was a local bidding war for it.. MF's always keep very good value.. Buying new at €42000 would involved extra interest on €15000,an extra outlay of 15K and a bigger depreciation..

Apart from all that, any details on that NH ?

I presumed his price was £24k + VAT which would leave it well over €30k at today's rate.

The extra outlay of €15k would be cheaper in the long run. The interest on the repayments would be tax deductable. So would the depreciation. When he puts this against his taxes over 5 years, he could have a brand new tractor for very little more than what he would have paid for a 4 year old and it would always be worth more money.

I'm suspiceous of these bargain tractors. At the end of the day its a 4 year old tractor with only 700 hours on it. That's less than 200 per year. I heard that a lot of these low hour tractors come form the uk or EU and are tractors that were returned to the dealer due to some major fault (Normally Engine failure). They are repaired and then sold off to some unsuspecting Irish Farmer. I wouldn't want one of them.

The NH arrived last week. I couldn't be happier with it. Its comfortable, has lots of power and looks pretty sleek. I haven't tested it much - but have spread some slurry with it and done some agitating. Its easy enough on fuel too. Will let you know after 6 months what its like.
