Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I like the yellow, it's closest to the colour I saw last night. Very nice moon, was going to take a photo myself but it was too cold and I was too cranky!

    there is a bit of personal preference here but a couple of suggestions;

    re: Crop. I'd suggest either a square crop tight to the moon or shifting the moon out of the center and retain the current ratio. My personal preference here is for shifting off center giving the moon in its natural habitat of black space. But I have seen pictures taken by others which if you have the detail - a tight crop (then obviously with the moon in the center) can be very effective. Start with the rule of thirds for off center positioning and then try pushing it a little more or less off the intersection points (ie. break the rule).

    re. Focus. To mine eyes it looks somewhat soft. From what you have you could try a little sharpening in post production. Again this may be personal preference - i simply think that moon pictures are more *impressive* (if that's what you may be looking for) when you *think* you can start to pick out the crater constructs.

    re. Colour. For me it would be the white one. I'm biased here. I currently have a white one as my desktop background which was taken towards the end of last week.

    Again, much of this will be personal preference so treat what i've typed with a pinch of salt if you happen to like them the way they are. :)

    Thanks for the comments. I think my favourite is the yellow, but im still undecided.
    I dont have ps on my work laptop so there is no pp done at all, just a very quick crop.
    Any tips on how to make the focus sharper?

    Some good suggestions from AnCatDubh there. My preference would be for yellow and an off centre crop and I too think it looks a tiny bit soft but nice capture all the same.

    Would you mind telling me what lens you used as I'm interested in taking moon shots myself.

    Thanks.
    I used a nikon 18-200mm at 200mm, 1/80 sec and f8 (i think) for the yellow moon. Using a tripod and remote release.

    Thanks thats what I was hoping you say as I'm buying an old 70-210mm at the weekend. Its manual so will be a little tricky but should be fun all the same.
