That's a bit rich considering the organisers should be getting a four-ball for around €20 (max) per player.

So at €70 per person, €20 for meal and €20 for round, where's the other €30 disappearing to?

I take from reading his post that it's a fundraiser for Oliver plunketts gfc. So I'd guess the money 'disappears' into their coffers.

I'd say prizes and the rest to Oliver Plunkets Gaa Club, it is a fund raiser afterall!

I have nothing to do with this event.

    I know it's a fundraiser.

If that's the case the golf club should be willing to offer them each person at less than 20 a head. Plus the prizes should be sponsored by local stores in the town. Plus the food would not be 20 a head. Be more like 15. The bar in question, Foley's, should maybe offer half-price food given that most of the guys will probably stay on a for a few beers over the night.

I know the gaelic club very well. It's overpriced (and taking the p*ss) imo.

that is your opinion but to say it is taking the piss is a bit out of order as similar fundraising events all over the country region from €250 to €400

it shouldnt matter what price they are getting the green fees for (it is more than €20 by the way) or what price they are getting the food for. If a normal joa soap was to play seapoint on a friday it would prob cost around €45 for the round and then at least another €20-€25 for a soup starter and steak dinner.

There is also quite a few prizes as it is a team event so all 4 people on a team would be getting prizes. The prizes are nice pieces of crystal by the way as we taught it would mean more the get something like crstal instead of some sort of voucher or that. There is also costs of entertainment for the night of the event.

all in all I think it is a very fair price and it is a fundraiser for the club after all, as we are trying to raise funds to build an extention to the current clubhouse which only has 2 changing rooms. We need at least 1 more changing room as we have teams from nursery level and every age group up to adult level. We also this year for the 1st time have a ladies football team for u12s and we want to expand the club to cater for ladies football at all levels and to do so another changing room is essential.

Your dead right about everything except the crystal! This is not directed at you soley its at all golf organisors: STOP WITH THE CRYSTAL. After about 2 weeks it becomes nothing but a dust gatherer! Give us a golf voucher or something we can use. Our GAA club gave away Gas BBQ's and everyone was happy with them!

    Good Luck with your fundraiser!

Don't see how I am out of order if that's my opinion.

I'm all for fundraising and especially when it comes to GAA.

If other events are asking for 250-400 then I can't imagine, for one second, that they have had much success.

But, I know exactly what someone can get Seapoint for on a Friday for a golf classic and as I already said if other people were willing to help in some way, then you would have a much larger entry and actually much more intake. If you had a much larger amount of teams then the revenue coming into the pub for example would be much larger (people buying pints) so they should be willing to do business.

If someone goes ahead and pays up that fee then they are a fool unknown to themselves.

I for one would have gathered a team to play if the fee was an appropriate amount I.E. €35-40 per head.

There is other ways to raise money. Get a local hotel to sponsor a dinner and overnight stay and have a €10 entry for a hole in one comp. Most likely no one will get it so the hotel has no real risk. There is numerous successful sports people around the town try get something sponsored for an auction that night in the pub. Plenty of golf courses also who might be willing to offer a free four-ball. These are only a couple of examples but all achievable if you work hard enough.

You want people involved not looking at a price and thinking feck that. The more people you got going to more will follow, friends of friends etc.

Only posted in an attempt to make peoples opinions known in order to help you out.

    Good luck on the day.

Due to a late withdrawal I am looking for a fourth for a team event in Dun Laoghaire Sunday 20th. in the afternoon.
We three that remain easy going souls middling handicappers.
Anyone available at this late stage?
The team is sponsored so this is a free game.

    Cheers.
