Me no hollow core, would New Forest be too far for you, €20, not an open though, would still travel to Portarlington if in good nick...

Tis a bit of a trek alright...birr or tullamore maybe??

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,021 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Birr too tight and I'd imagine the new holes would be quite wet as they were wet during the summer, Tullamore bit pricey, willing to go for Portarlington and they have tee times from 9:50, how does that sound?
Any others to make up a 4ball?

Birr use old course for winter so not very wet at all. IMO old course is away better than new!! But i'm happy enough to go to portarlington at any time.

Didn't know that about Birr, Portarlington sound good so for 9:10, will we give it a few hours to see if any other boardie want to join?

I'm in cork and free to play on the Tuesday and Wednesday. Not sure about greenfees for Douglas but I'd say u are not far wrong. Rang last week looking for student/distance membership for the year and it was like 500 plus 3500 enterance fee or something similar!! Frankfield have a decent range all automatic.
Havnt played any of the city courses but closest to Douglas would be mahon and think they do a nine hole rate for around €14.
Outside of that you have courses like blarney, cobh, muskerry etc. But they are 20-30 min drive from Douglas which makes a quick evening 9 holes difficult.

Early indications for next week look very good for golf. So I'm on for 9-holes any evening next week in the south Cork area, probably Mahon. If anyone is interested just let me know.

Should be able to do Wed if I can get out of work on time which should be doable. What time you thinking ? 5 ?

5pm sounds perfect any day Monday to Thursday. May just take up both offers!

Working in Ringaskiddy, due to finish up each day by 4.30pm. How long to get to Mahon at that time of evening?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,512 ✭✭✭OffalyMedic

Anyone for Corballis on Friday? Need another .1 back.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,021 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

New Forest are starting Semi Opens on a Wednesday, you must have a GUI card and you must play with a member, you must play after 12 noon and it's a 13hole competition but you can carry on and play the 18 if you like, cost is €10.
